Tips to get back your the natural colour of your lips

Exfoliation and removal of dead skin cells is not only important for our face but also our lips. Sugar is rich in glycolic acid and antioxidants that helps in the conditioning of lips and gets rid of any toxins. It also prevents lips from sun damage and smoothens it.

How to Apply: Take a teaspoon of honey and white or cane sugar and mix it well together to make a paste. Apply the paste on your lips and very gently exfoliate it for 3-5 minutes and wash it off with cold water. Do this twice every week for supple lips.

Often our lips lose their natural colour due to extreme dehydration internally and externally. For internal hydration you can drink ample amounts of water and consume antioxidant-rich foods like berries and tomatoes. For external hydration apply this cucumber and mint leaves pack. Both the foods will help in removing dead skin cells.

How to Apply: Grind half a cucumber and 10 mint leaves together and apply on your lips. Take a soft toothbrush and scrub your lips with the pack. This will give you pink lips naturally.

Aloe vera is one of the magical plants for the health and healing of our body. You can either consume or apply it for the best results. Aloe Vera is rich in vitamin-E that helps in retention of moisture in lips and its soothing properties helps in healing dry lips. Honey helps in amping the properties of the aloe vera and moisturises dry lips.

How to Apply: Take a scoop of aloe vera gel and a teaspoon of honey and blend it together. You can either store it in a balm container and store it in the fridge and apply it and leave it overnight, or you can pour the concoction in ice scoop moulds and take it off and run it on your lips for conditioning.

Turmeric is a traditional, Ayurvedic cure for pigmentation but if you combine it with milk, it will treat your dark lips. The milk will soften and give you beautiful lips naturally.

How to Apply: Take a pinch of turmeric powder and mix it with a few drops of milk and mix it well before applying it on your lips. You can also add a few drops of honey and leave the mask on your lips for 5-10 minutes before you wash it off with cold water.

If you have eaten beetroot, you must have noticed that beetroot has a strong red-pink colour and turns your tongue in the same colour. It has red pigment and helps to remove pigmentation and dead cells from lips.

How to Apply: Take a slice of beetroot and rub it on your lips or blend it with honey for naturally-coloured lips and wash it off after 10 minutes with cold water.

One of the main reasons for dry and dark lips is dehydration and almond or coconut oil helps with that. Both these oils are popular for moisturising hair, face and even lips. It replenishes chapped lips and gives colour to lips naturally at home

How to Apply: Take a few drops of almond or coconut oil or both and apply it on your lips at night before you sleep and wake up with softer lips.

You might think this one to be weird but hydration starts internally and this is the first part of our body that is created after conception. You will be surprised by the results of the application of ghee on your navel as it works internally to repair your skin health.

How to Apply: Just heat a spoon of ghee and apply it on your belly button before you go to sleep at night and your navel will pass on the necessary nourishment to the parts of your body that needs nourishment, i.e. your lips.

We often fail to understand the importance of sunscreen and apply it only on our face. But our lips need protection from the harmful UV rays too. So do your research and choose a lip balm that has the right SPF and you are good to go on protecting those pink lips.

Our lips may be just a part of our face but it needs all the TLC it can get. Try out these remedies at home for the natural and beautiful lips.
