There are many advantages to travelling alone, such as being able to set your schedule and meet intriguing people along the route. Although it's important to prioritise your safety when travelling alone, going on a solo vacation may allow you to immerse yourself in a foreign place, allowing you to ponder and contemplate while also having the freedom to set your own pace and company. Pushing through your fears may help you realise you're more confident, composed, and tactful than you thought (or at least show you where to improve). Are you planning your first solo international trip? And are you looking for the perfect destination to travel solo? You have arrived at the right place!
If you are travelling abroad alone, make the most of your experience by engaging in activities that bring you joy, such as taking the scenic route back to your accommodation, conversing with strangers, embracing your mistakes with laughter, and changing your plans at the last minute if you wish. If you are travelling abroad or within India for the first time, these are our favourite places!
Chiang Mai, Thailand

Your first solo international trip to Chiang Mai will be the one you remember forever! Your phone's media has likely captivated you with Thai culture, and you may be eager to witness the splendour of the Yi Peng Lantern Festival! Due to Thailand's accessibility, you can see many individuals travelling alone with their backpacks. You can also join Facebook groups, as it is the most helpful approach to prepare for your journey. Browse through hundreds of messages, connect with individuals, and find numerous groups tailored to your vacation plans. You can travel across the nation for two weeks and see stunning beaches, friendly locals, mouthwatering cuisine, breathtaking scenery, and fascinating culture.
Hampi, India

Set against the breathtaking background of hills and the Tungabhadra River, the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Hampi in Karnataka offers over 500 ancient structures. It had mosques, imperial palaces, and Muslim officer quarters; it was once the centre of the Vijayanagara kingdom. To thoroughly enjoy Hampi, we advise a 2-3 day stay in a range of lodgings from guest homes to luxury hotels. It is best visited in winter and can be reached either by rail from Hospet or by plane from Hubli.
New York City, USA

Since you're never really alone in New York, we consider it to be among the best places to travel abroad for the first time! Book a room at a hotel and hit the bars! From the West Village to Zabar's sandwich shop or from downtown Brooklyn to Sunny's Bar in Red Hook, you can walk almost anywhere. However, if you prefer public transportation, you can also take the subway or a Citi Bike, which makes everything seem much closer. We recommend you take a stroll through Lower Manhattan, stopping in at antique stores on the Lower East Side, restaurants in Chinatown or Dimes Square, and any little pocket parks you can come across on the West Side to read in. If you take your time, you can meet as many people as you want—New Yorkers who are wandering will talk to anyone—or, if you prefer to be alone, you can wear sunglasses to avoid small talk.
Varkala, India

Ponnumthuruthu Island and the peaceful Papasnanam Beach are only two of the attractions in Varkala, Kerala, which is situated on a peaceful cliff beside the Arabian Sea. Visit the beautiful Kapil Lake and its temples, unwind on the beach, and revitalise with world-renowned Ayurvedic treatments. The best time to visit is between December and March, when you can easily get there via Varkala station or Trivandrum Airport and spend three or four days seeing everything it has to offer. A perfect beach vacation, with pristine sandy beaches all to yourself, sounds like a dream getaway!
Maun, Botswana

Often referred to as the entrance to the Okavango Delta, Maun is a small town in northern Botswana. You also have the option of setting off on a Mosu Safari Tours-organised three-day camping adventure in the heart of the Okavango Delta. Even if Maun itself doesn't have much to offer, a trip to the Okavango Delta—one of the world's last surviving areas of wilderness—is well worth it. Amazing people, breathtaking sunsets, and abundant animals made this an unforgettable once-in-a-lifetime adventure. While in Botswana, you will not encounter any problems due to the low crime rate, making it a perfect adventurous first solo international trip for someone looking to explore the rich culture and picturesque views Botswana has to offer!
