From stunning silhouettes to gorgeous makeup, the FDCI-led Indian Couture Week (ICW) gave fashion lovers much to choose from. And where there’s good fashion, there's also accessories. Giving us an insight into what’s going to be hot this season, designers and stylists offered a wide selection of beautiful accessories that are still sparkling around in our minds.
A combination of refreshed classics and bold new favourites sashayed the ramp - from traditional jewellery like pearls and gold getting a fresh update to sporting chic embellished facial nets.
Zee Zest put together a list of 10 trends in accessories from ICW:
1. Belt it up!
From broad to slim, plain to embellished, we saw belts of several varieties, kickstarting Couture Week. Designers like JJ Valaya paired sarees with belts that added the perfect touch of glam, solidifying the trend as a staple for seasons to come.
2. Party chokers
Yes, statements necklaces are staying put. From Siddartha Tytler to Rohit Gandhi & Rahul Khurana’s show, chokers are still ruling, whether chunky, layered or just understated elegance.
3. Septum piercings and nose rings
Men’s jewellery is still an untapped segment. The biggest accessories trend from India Couture Week were septum piercings and nose rings sported by men this season. Men wore ring piercings along with male buns styled with bandhgalas at Kunal Rawal's show, and they made for quite an edgy look.
4. Arm parties
Big bangles and arm cuffs are back in the party. These chunky arm and wrist delights relay the message loud and clear: more is truly more. Pair them with ethnic clothes or even jeans and tank tops to mix and match - there's always a way to work with arm cuffs and bangles.
5. Feathered heels
Designer Varun Bahl’s show came with some bold footwear picks - feathered heels. These feather-embellished heels channelled old Hollywood glamour. These heels are inherently elegant yet playful, too.
6. Veil is it
This effortless and stylish accessory just got an upgrade this season. If you want to escape to Paris without leaving the country, do so by adding a veil studded with crystals and rhinestones to your ensemble for a maximal effect.
7. Long, dangling earrings
There are a handful of staple accessories that everyone should own, and dangling earrings are one. Spotted at Tarun Tahiliani, Rahul Mishra, Dolly J and more, they are effortless and timeless to wear with any outfit and look spectacular.
8. Evening clutch bags
Not for the faint of heart (or anyone that fears a feminine touch), the evening bags at Varun Bahl’s show can spice up any nighttime outfit.
9. Chunky rings
Kunal Rawal, Rohit Gandhi & Rahul Khurana and Anamika Khanna showed both gold and silver big rings worn on almost every finger. Worn by both men and women, looks like it’s time to start going all out with baubles.
10. Ornate jewels
Men wore long, intricate, ornate necklaces during India Couture Week as another standout accessory trend. These necklaces were not only worn with sherwanis or wedding wear, but also with suits and blazers. Men’s style is all about now breaking the confined rules of the past.
