The new year is just around the corner and as we take a look at the year gone by, one of the most prominent things that comes up is the number of stellar celebrity weddings that took place in 2022. While some of these celebrity nuptials were much awaited, some came as a surprise to most Bollywood fans, some were hush-hush while others had the Prime Minister wishing the couple. Social media feeds were flooded with big fat designer weddings photographs of happy couples, and every single one of them looked gorgeous!
1. Mohit Raina and Aditi Sharma

This year had begun with the wedding of TV’s much-loved ‘Devon Ke Dev, Mahadev’ aka Mohit Raina who was also a part of the war-action film Uri: The Surgical Strike. They met through common friends, and it was Mohit who made the first move in the relationship. “Love recognises no barriers, it jumps hurdles, leaps fences, penetrates walls to arrive at its destination, full of hope . With that hope and the blessings of our parents we are no longer two but one. Need all your love and blessing in this new journey,” he said on his Instagram post.
2. Mouni Roy and Suraj Nambiar

A three-day celebration, actress Mouni Roy, last seen in Brahmastra, tied the knot with Suraj Nambiar, a businessman from Dubai. The much-in-love couple had a South Indian as well as a Bengali style wedding. “I found him at last. Hand in hand, blessed by family and friends, we are married. Need your love and blessings,” she said on her social media post. The internet was flooded with stunning pictures of the couple.
3. Karishma Tanna and Varun Bangera

Karishma Tanna married her long-time love Varun Bangera, a Mumbai-based businessman early this year. Right from perfectly colour-coordinated wedding attires in similar pink hues, to professional pictures of various wedding moments, they ticked all the right boxes. Karisma who had always wanted “a small yet fancy wedding” had an intimate event with less than 100 guests.
4. Vikrant Massey And Sheetal Thakur

Vikrant Massey, an actor known for his roles in films as well as OTT, chose the perfect, unforgettable date of February 14, Valentine’s Day to get married to his lady love, actress Sheetal Thakur. A private ceremony was held in the bride’s ancestral home in Shahtalai, Himachal Pradesh with everything traditional, organic and eco-friendly.
5. Farhan Akhtar and Shibani Dandekar

This was one hush-hush wedding with a private, contemporary ceremony that was a mix of rituals of Maharashtrian wedding, Islamic nikah and a Christian wedding. Shibani’s designer friend Payal Singhal curated the decor, return gifts for some of the events.
6. Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt

This was one of the most private, guarded, most-awaited, and anticipated and the biggest wedding in Bollywood this year. It was an intimate ceremony at the couple’s Mumbai home, Vastu. The on-demand singer Prateek Kuhad, who is Alia’s favourite, had to sign an NDA earlier, initially to guard the privacy of the event.
7. Arjun Kanungo and Carla Dennis

Singer, composer, actor Arjun Kanungo, had first met his now-wife Carla Dennis Kanungo on the sets of his maiden music video, in which the model- content creator starred as the leading lady. “It was love at first sight for both of us. We were together for seven years, before we decided to tie the knot,” says Arjun. Their love story was like a romance movie.
8. Richa Chadha And Ali Fazal

Richa-Ali’s was again a much-awaited wedding and the couple had initially had to postpone their wedding functions due to the pandemic. In October 2022, they tied the knot in Lucknow in Abu-Sandeep couture, twinning beautifully and slaying it.
9. Palak Muchhal and Mithoon Sharma

This was a rather unexpected wedding in Bollywood’s music industry as the couple who had been working together since 2013 were brought together by their respective parents through an arranged marriage. The three-day event was attended by the celebrity friends of the couple from Bollywood. “We are both proud of our culture. Our wedding adhered to traditions and while we do have work commitments, we hope to go on our honeymoon soon,” says Mithoon. Prime Minister Narendra Modi blessed the couple.
