Mango mania has taken over Mumbai and restaurants across the city are making the most of the king of fruits by whipping up some innovative and delectable treats – from traditional to fusion. On offer are sweet and savoury dishes such as savoury fried rice with ripe mangoes, mango waffles, mango quinoa salad, mango sandesh, butter-fried chicken sando with pickled mangoes and barbeque sauce.

Bayroute’s mango special for summer 2023 is the Alphonso mango k’nafi cheesecake. An Arabic twist to the classic cheesecake, this dessert comprises mango cheesecake and pistachio spheres coated in crispy fried angel hair kataifi drizzled with an aromatic and sweet cardamom and mango sauce.

Love the combo of sweet and savoury flavours for mains? We recommend trying Nara Thai’s fried rice with ripe mangoes. As the name suggests, the dish features savoury fried rice with chunks of mango. The other scrumptious mango specials the restaurant is offering are mango and spinach salad, and mango and Gianduja chocolate with raw mango sorbet.

A Mediterranean salad means juicy mango for this unique salad served at the Kind Café, and it is a riot of colours, textures, and flavours. It comprises fresh spinach leaves, cucumber, red bell pepper, pomegranate seeds, and diced mango with a dash of lime juice.

A party in your mouth – that’s how we’d like to describe the experience of bingeing on the fried chicken open sando at The Burrow. It is a butter-fried chicken sandwich lined with a mouth-watering mango barbeque sauce and pickled mangoes. Another must-try is the mango chicken, which is chicken breast stuffed with almonds and cheese, served with a side of black rice.

It’s hard to go wrong with a classic such as the popular Thai treat – Khao Niaow Ma Muang aka mango and sticky rice. You can relish it at Kyma in Bandra Kurla Complex. For the uninitiated, this is a creamy rice pudding with slices of perfectly ripe mangoes and coconut sauce.

The good folks at Poetry by Love and Cheesecake have sourced Alphonso mangoes from Ratnagiri to put together a delectable mango menu. Our picks are the mango waffles, which feature crispy Belgian-style waffles topped with silky mango mascarpone and diced mango.

Now here’s a brekkie dish worth waking up to! A thick slice of brioche soaked in mango puree and served with diced mango, whipped cream, mango sauce, and pistachio. Bloom Caféa has an elaborate mango menu, and this French toast is just a part of the big list. You can also check out their mango pancakes and mango avocado salad.

Tiramisu with a twist, The BlueBop Café’s mango misu is their summery take on the classic Italian dessert. Expect layers of ladyfingers, pieces of mango, and mango-flavoured mascarpone.

Love a good salad loaded with seasonal ingredients? Try Shy in Chembur’s mango, avocado, and quinoa salad. It reads simple but promises a burst of flavours coming from Alphonso mango, guacamole, and red quinoa. What brings it all together is a zesty lemon-honey vinaigrette.

The creaminess of lightly sweet and tangy cheesecake filling meets buttery cracker crust and juicy mangoes in this seasonal dessert being served at Millo in Lower Parel. When at Millo, you can’t end without the mango cheesecake this summer.

Meetha Mumbai’s seasonal twist to the traditional Bengali sweetmeat sandesh is the mango sandesh. It is a melt-in-mouth treat made using chenna, ripe mango puree, saffron, and pistachios.

A light, three-layered sponge cake soaked in milk and topped with fresh cream and pieces of mango – that’s the mango tres leches Balmy is serving for summer 2023. Their mango special line-up also includes a mango quinoa feta salad, and mango and sticky rice.

Donna Deli in Bandra celebrates the king of fruits with a heavenly baked mango cheesecake. Think creamy cheesecake filling combined with the delicate sweetness of mango.

If you are in the mood for something light but sweet, then you must try the mango and biscoff mousse at The Sassy Spoon and The Sassy Teaspoon outlets. They are also serving a baked mango cheesecake with a twist – instead of the digestive biscuit crust, they are using cookie crumbs and serving with a side of vanilla ice cream.

If you enjoy gazpacho, then this summery version of the classic Spanish cold soup is a must-try. It’s creamy, sweet-spicy and so comforting – a respite from the crazy summer heat.

Sweet, juicy chunks of mango and bitter salad leaves are tossed in a spicy, pungent-flavoured mustard dressing to make this refreshing and flavourful summer salad, which is served at the La Poz Place. When at the restaurant, you can also try their mango special cocktails - mango basil mojito and mango margarita.

Start your summer morning on the right note with this mango smoothie bowl at Yogisattva Café. It is made using mangoes, bananas, nut milk, 100 per cent natural almond butter, and topped with house-made granola, chia seeds, and seasonal fruits.

Love a good, thick shake? Then you must try the King at Bizza in Bandra. A part of their mango menu, the King is a mango thickshake topped with a slice of baked New York-style cheesecake, mango gel, diced fresh mangoes, mango gel, mango fairy floss, and sprinkles, among other delectable toppings.

A vegan, gluten-free, and sugar-free decadent chocolate cake layered with the goodness of fresh, sweet mango puree and diced mangoes, and a light, airy sponge - sounds like a heavenly dessert, doesn't it? This is Seeds of Life in Bandra's mango chocolate cake. It is a part of their summer mango menu and is a must-try for mango lovers.

Located inside the Marine Plaza Hotel at Marine Drive, this summer, The Bayview is serving a special mango menu for Summer 2023. A part of this exciting menu is the mango tian that features layered mango custard topped with a sweet disc of sweet, tangy, and crispy aam papad.
