Spread across 30 acres of land, Rose garden is located in sector 16 in Chandigarh. The name comes from the 50,000 rose bushes that are planted here, of 1600 different species which is the main attraction of the place. The garden is also known as Zakir Hussain Rose garden and is named after the former President of India. The garden also showcases a blooming 825 varieties of flowers and 32,000 varieties of trees and medicinal plants. With all the beauty, this place is a must visit if you are in Chandigarh.

The rose garden Chandigarh was built in 1967 under the eye of then First Chief Commissioner, MS Randhawa and is claimed to be the largest rose garden of its kind in Asia. The management of such vast variety of flora is done brilliantly in the Rose garden. The trees and plants are planted systematically by a few expert gardeners. The flora of the garden is the main attraction for tourists and nature enthusiasts who enjoy taking a stroll along the path and relaxing.

The park is very aptly built against the backdrop of misty mountains so that you feel serene once you enter the place. There is also a massive waterfall built in the middle of the lake where you can enjoy a magical light and sound show in the evening or just sit and bird-watch and wind down for a bit. There are vast blankets of green grass that you can walk or lie down on. There is a walking path too where you can see the residents or locals jogging early in the morning. There are benches made every fews feet under the trees where you can sit and take a breather.

The beauty and colour of the flowers and the perfect setting of the tress will leave you feeling calm when you take a walk around the park.

The best time to visit Rose garden is during the spring time, from February to March to see the plants in full bloom. The Rose festival that showcases varieties of species of rose plant is also hosted at this time for you to enjoy. You can visit the garden during the day if you want to see all its bright colours while its sunny or you go there in the evening when the light and sound show is held.

The Rose Garden hosts the Rose Festival at the brink of Spring season. It's popular worldwide, and there is a display of various species of roses for people to marvel. In the spring time, the city experiences bright and sunny days but the temperatures are not that high. At the same time, the city breathes a sigh of relief after going through the long and harsh winters. You can see flowers blooming, birds chirping and singing and the smell of different kinds of delicious meals in every turn and corner.

You can hire a cab from the city centre or a tuk tuk to reach the garden or drive a private vehicle. Although, it is a little difficult to find a parking space for cars. You can cycle to the park as there is dedicated space for parking in the area.

The ticket price to enter the park is Rs 50 for both adults and kids and the timings are from 6 am to 10 pm.

Make sure you do not pluck any flowers or litter the park and adhere to the rules of the authority as much as possible. Besides that, make sure you enjoy to the fullest, take a lot of rose garden pictures and have a great time while visiting the Rose Garden Chandigarh.
