Okay, we know the struggle—is it wash day or not? You just washed your hair today, but you have a gruelling leg day tomorrow; is it really worth cleansing, conditioning, and treating your hair only to make it sweaty again? Well, we have the ultimate routine for all the active girlies out there so that they have perfect hair (and abs) day every day! 

You may be wondering if it's necessary to wash your hair immediately following a vigorous workout if you perspire a lot. On the other hand, it is not necessary. What matters most is taking into account your typical hair type, texture, and oil production. Even if you work out every day, there's no need to wash your hair. No matter how active a person is, doctors usually recommend washing their hair at the same frequency, whether that's three times a week, once a week, or every other week.

There is no "right" way to wash your hair. While some people can go days or weeks without washing their hair, others may find that regular washing is necessary. When hair gets greasy, filthy, or has a lot of product built up on the scalp, most individuals should wash it. Here's when you know: 

  • Daily washing may be necessary for oily-haired individuals.
  • People whose hair has been chemically treated might benefit from washing it less frequently.
  • It is recommended to wash textured or coily hair once weekly or biweekly.
  • The amount of sebum produced by the scalp decreases with age. This might lead to less frequent hair washings.

Note: Several factors, including the composition of a person's hair, might affect how frequently it needs cleaning.

  •  Your hair’s sweaty: After exercise or when wearing a cap for a long time, it may be a good idea to wash your hair. Aside from making the hair feel and appear filthy, sweat can also give it an unpleasant stench.
  • Your hair feels dirty: An individual should wash their hair to remove pollen or debris if they find it in their locks. In addition to making allergies worse, dirt and pollen left in the hair give the impression of uncleanliness.
  • Your hair feels oily:  Having a little oil in your hair is very normal. Having said that, not everyone has the same oil-producing abilities. A greasy, matted look can develop when oil builds up in the hair. More frequent washings may be necessary for oily-haired people. Because of the presence of hairstyle products, frequent washing or rinsing may be necessary for those who use multiple products to maintain their hairstyle. The accumulation of items might further aggravate scalp irritation.

Note: People whose hair is particularly prone to damage, such as those with textured or coily hair, should limit their washing frequency to no more than three times weekly. In general, thick, curly hair requires less washing than thin, straight hair.

If you want to use shampoo, don't scrub it into a lather. This may cause your hair to become frizzy and even break. Instead, you should massage the shampoo into your scalp until it forms a lather. Here are some tips to know! 

  • It's not a beneficial idea to use oily conditioner on your scalp.
  • If your hair is dyed, you shouldn't use products that aren't made for it.
  • You should still wash your hair regularly, even if it is oily. Acne along the hairline, back, and chest can result from this buildup in your hair.
  • Be sure to use conditioner. Get a shampoo and conditioner in one convenient package or use a leave-in conditioner spray right after you wash your hair if you're short on time.
  • Stay away from the hot water. Your hair will become frizzy, dry, and damaged as a result.
  • Avoid blow-drying damp hair as much as possible. Just like with hot water, this will create problems.
  • Avoid rubbing your freshly washed hair with a towel. Use the towel to delicately dab your hair instead.

 An everything shower is not the only way to keep your good hair day! To keep the scalp from being dry and causing damage to the hair, try using one of these products. Here are a few typical choices: A cleansing conditioner combines the benefits of a conditioner with certain cleaning characteristics. Conditioning could work just fine in place of shampooing for certain people. An SLA-free shampoo is preferable because sulfates are drying to the scalp and hair. Natural or "no-poo" hair washes are options that someone might think about. For oily or fine hair, using a dry shampoo can help you go longer between washes. It does not, however, remove dirt or other debris and instead leaves a powdery residue that may irritate the skin.
