Ranveer Singh, the undisputed superstar
Before he ventured into cinema, Singh worked as a copywriter for an advertising agency for two years. In 2010, he got a chance to work with Yash Raj Films. For the last few years and even now, he’s been the most desired and highest-paid actor in Bollywood and to achieve this level of stardom within a few years of career is no joke. In his 12-year-long journey—starting from Band Baaja Baraat in 2010 to his recent release Jayeshbhai Jordaar this year—we have seen a range of versatility in his craft. Be it playing Bittoo Sharma in Band Baaja Baraat, Nandu in Lootera, Kabir Mehra in Dil Dhadakne Do, Sangram Bhalerao in Simmba, Peshwa Bajirao Ballal in Bajirao Mastani, Alauddin Khilji in Padmaavat, Murad Ahmed in Gully Boy, or Jayeshbhai in Jayeshbhai Jordaar—each of his role is different from another, and unpredictable. Not to mention, his collaboration with directors such as Zoya Akhtar and Sanjay Leela Bhansali has given us the actor’s most memorable on-screen performances so far.
But when it comes to showing love to his lady, Deepika Padukone, Singh is something else. After six years of dating, the couple tied the knot in 2018. Even now, he never misses out on the chance to share how madly, deeply and passionately he’s in love with his wife. 1. Ranveer on why he wants to be well-versed with Konkani
Ranveer speaking in Konkani at the recent NRI convention in San Jose, California—that was hosted by the Konkani community of the area—has gone viral for all the right reasons. Flaunting his language skills, he expressed why he is keen on learning Konkani: “I am in a position where I can understand all of Konkani seamlessly but there is a reason behind this, it’s because when we do have children I don’t want their mother to speak to them in Konkani about me without me understanding.”
2. Ranveer reveals he has a sex playlist

3. For Ranveer it’s all about respecting women
Singh feels grateful to be surrounded by strong female forces in his life— his mother, grandmother, sister, and now Deepika. He said: “Now Deepika, she’s not just part of my life, she is my life. I’ve been moulded, shaped into who I am by them. I can say that emphatically.” He also said that he would prefer a daughter, as they’re nicer and kinder. Talking about how he would never disrespect a woman, he said, “I treat all women with utmost respect, both professionally and personally, and would never do anything to disrespect them.”
4. Ranveer credits Deepika for his work-life balance
Singh had been a workaholic until he got married to Deepika. In an interview with Grazia he shared how Deepika has helped him strike a work-life balance. He said, “If it were up to me, I’d work for 18 hours a day. All we have is time and what defines us is what we truly do with it. I’ve been obsessed with my craft, and I had zero work-life balance for the longest time. It was only when Deepika came into my life that she made me appreciate living it. She sits down with me and goes through my calendar to ensure the same. There are times when I just burst into tears. To know that despite there being so much sadness and hurt around us, I still have a home to go back to, or being able to do the work that I want to.”
6. Ranveer on completing a decade with Deepika
Ranveer is always in awe of Deepika. Talking about what makes his relationship with Deepika the most special one, he said, “It’s been 10 years with Deepika. 2022, it’ll be 10 years. But that’s the wonderful part about our relationship that she continues to amaze me, she continues to surprise me. It has been four years (since the wedding) but it always just feels so fresh. She is at times sugar, at times spice—she is both of that and everything to me. And, I think she is my lover and best friend, and pretty much the best thing to have happened to me.”
7. When Ranveer supported Deepika for doing intimate scenes in ‘Gehraiyaan’
Reacting to online trolls asking whether Deepika took his permission for intimate scenes in Gehraiyaan, Ranveer said he’s extremely proud of the film and her performance. Sharing a picture of him kissing Deepika, he wrote, “Transcendent, superlative and sublime! What an absolute masterclass of a performance, baby! Such fine, nuanced and heartfelt artistry! … at your consummate and peerless best in this one! You make me so proud! (sic)”
8. Ranveer doesn’t want to change Deepika
When Ranveer was quizzed about things he would like to change in Deepika, he said, “Nothing, I can’t think of anything about her that I can criticise. She’s perfect in every way, she has her flaws like everyone but she’s good for the most part, and the complaining is for her to do, and the changes are for me to make.”
