Although manchurian can be prepared from a variety of items such as chicken, fish, and soya chunks, gobi manchurian is what largely caters to the vegetarian crowd and is loved by most people in the country. Gobi Manchurian items list to prepare the Manchurian sauce:

  1. ¾ cup divided vegetable stock
  2. 1 tbsp soy sauce
  3. 1 tbsp tomato ketchup
  4. 1 tbsp chilli-garlic sauce
  5. 1 tbsp cornmeal
  6. 1 tbsp vegetable oil
  7. ½ cup onion, chopped
  8. 1 tsp finely chopped ginger
  9. 3 cloves of minced garlic
  10. 1 green chilli pepper, finely chopped
  11. 1 green onion, chopped (optional)
  12. Salt to taste

Ingredients for fried cauliflower:

  1. 15 cauliflower florets
  2. 5 tbsp all-purpose flour
  3. 3 tbsp cornmeal
  4. Oil
  5. 1 tsp ground black pepper
  6. Water
  7. Salt to taste

  1. In a bowl add the all-purpose flour, cornmeal, black pepper, salt and water and make a thick batter out of the ingredients. Toss the cauliflower florets in the batter and coat the cauliflowers well.
  2. Heat oil in a large pot over medium flame.
  3. Deep fry the batter-coated cauliflowers until they turn golden brown. Then transfer the fried cauliflower to a plate lined with paper towels.
  4. To make the gobi manchurian sauce, mix ¼ cup of the vegetable stock along with cornmeal in a bowl, and add the soy sauce, tomato ketchup, chilli-garlic sauce and salt.
  5. Again, heat oil in a wok or a frying pan over high flame, add the onions, chilli pepper, ginger and garlic, and stir fry for a few seconds.
  6. Add the cornmeal mixture and again cook for 1 to 2 minutes.
  7. Add the vegetable stock, and cook until the vegetable stock turns very thick in texture.
  8. Add the fried cauliflowers and toss lightly.
  9. Garnish with the green onions (optional) and serve.
