For the moviegoers, July comes bearing many gifts. Not just major theatrical releases like Bad Newz or Deadpool & Wolverine, but OTT is also all set to have major releases lined up. Whether it is movies releasing straight on the platform, or making their digital debut, the list of upcoming OTT releases is quite enticing.
1. Wild Wild Punjab
If you’re looking for upcoming OTT movies on Netflix, let us start with Wild Wild Punjab. This Luv Ranjan directorial follows the story of Rajesh Khanna or ‘Khanne’ from Punjab, played by Varun Sharma, who is heartbroken and decides to crash his ex-girlfriend’s wedding. Accompanied by his friends, Honey Paaji, Jainu, and Arore, played by Manjot Singh, Jassie Gill, and Sunny Singh respectively, Khanne is all set to declare that he is over her, albeit by taking a road trip to turn at her wedding. What chaos ensues is all there is to see in this first entry on the list of upcoming movies on OTT.
2. Maharaja
One of the most awaited upcoming movies on OTT has been the Vijay Sethupathi starrer Maharaja. The action thriller which is originally in Tamil, is also available in Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi, making it a perfect watch even if you’re not a fan of subtitles. One of the most talked about July OTT releases, it is rather on the darker side and comes with trigger warnings.
3. Srikanth
While Srikanth already released in the theatres the month prior, in case you couldn’t catch it there, it premieres on Netflix on July 5. One of the most thoughtful on the list of upcoming movies on OTT, Srikanth is a biopic based on the life of the founder of Bollant Industries, Srikanth Bolla. Starring Rajkumar Rao in the titular role, it follows his life as a blind entrepreneur, the challenges he faced, and how he conquered them all to be able to build a company that largely employs disabled people, and makes eco-friendly products.
4. Showtime- Part 2
Our list of recent OTT releases is not all movies. Streaming on Disney+ Hotstar, Showtime is a Hindi drama series starring big names like Naseeruddin Shah, Emraan Hashmi, Rajeev Khandelwal, and Mouni Roy. The series is divided into two parts, the first of which is released in March, and the second airs in July, making it a staple on the upcoming OTT releases lists this year.
5. Red Swan
Another of recent OTT releases on Disney+ Hotstar, Red Swan is a Korean romance revenge drama starring Kim Ha-neul and Rain in lead roles. The story of this K-drama, that is one of the much-awaited upcoming OTT, releases follows Oh Wan-soo played by Kim Ha-neul who is a successful golf player, married to the heir to the Hwain group, unhappy with her husband’s extramarital affair. On a goodwill trip to Manila, she narrowly escapes a fatal gunfight, thanks to Seo Do-yoon, played by Rain. How things take a turn thereafter makes up the plot of this July OTT release.
6. Chutney Sambar
If Red Swan is too intense for you, worry not. Our next entry on this list of upcoming OTT releases is a light-hearted comedy drama. Chutney Sambar, the much-awaited Tamil series on Disney+ Hotstar is the story of an orphan street vendor who unexpectedly becomes a part of his wealthy stepbrother’s family. The chaos that ensues makes this series one of the most awaited among the recent OTT releases.
