Once the Diwali festivities have wrapped up, and the weather has gotten cooler, the time for mid-afternoon cultural outings is here. For art and culture aficionados across the country, late October-early November marks the beginning of a season of great shows, exhibitions, and even soirees. These November art shows make for great outings, irrespective of where you are on the art appreciation spectrum. Whether you have just started understanding and exploring all that art galleries have to offer, or are a seasoned visitor who will be headed back to see your favourites, these art shows in India are going to be delightful for everyone.

While this is a great season for experiencing an art exhibition in Mumbai, as well as in Bengaluru, the city that is the best place for these upcoming art exhibitions in India happens to be Delhi NCR. Not only is the national capital region home to many prestigious art galleries and museums, it also happens to be the most vibrant with a great variety on offer. The art shows in November in Delhi NCR this year are no different, from Musawwari: Miniatures Today by Ojas Art which features artworks on South Asian miniature art, from a group of 20 artists from all around the world, to KNMA, Noida’s Purvaee that features upto 200 pieces made from 1940’s upto 2010s, by some of the earliest masters at two of India’s most influential art schools; Kala Bhavan in Shantiniketan, and Faculty of Fine Arts in Baroda.

There is no better way to start this list of November art shows than DAG’s exhibit on MF Hussain, featuring his 1980, Acrylic on canvas, Mother Teresa, and 1990, Chine collé on paper, Maqbool Fida, and many more. While MF Hussain needs no introduction to art connoisseurs, if you’re just starting to explore the art world, this will be one of the upcoming art exhibitions in India you must not miss. One of the most famous painters in India, Thota Vaikuntam’s artistic journey spans over five decades, and among the art shows in India in November, his exhibit at Art Alive Gallery in New Delhi is one that you must visit. The curation’s preview also had a screening of the documentary on his work and life, and the exhibit is on till 2oth November. Born in then Andhra, his artworks that beautifully depict the local culture to global audiences, making this curation a must visit when it comes to November art shows.

If you’re into diaspora art, this is one of art shows in India that you cannot miss. The Elemental You, currently showing at KNMA Saket, is a part of the museum’s ongoing research and collection-building on South Asian diaspora artists. This features mainly the works of three artists: Simryn Gill, Neha Choksi, and Hajra Waheed, and explores the idea of earth as a geological, cultural and material experience.

Delhi is not the only place to experience the art scene in India. If you're looking for an art exhibition in Mumbai, don’t miss this one. Sakti Burman, the world-renowned artist who was born in Bengal but has spent a large part of his life in France is showing at Art Musings, in Mumbai. His work is inspired by mythology, miniature paintings, and European art history. The sculptures will take you for a whimsical ride, making this one of the best art shows in India you can explore this November.
