Over 8 million people call the 1600 square kilometres that make up Bangkok, one of the largest and liveliest cities in Southeast Asia. The Skytrain, Subway MRT, riverboats, and buses that make up Bangkok's public transit system are first-rate, reasonably priced, and very user-friendly. You can easily hail a cab, tuk-tuk, or Grab (Thailand's version of Uber) since they are ubiquitous and happy to take you anywhere you need to go. If you are planning a trip and are looking for the best place to stay in Bangkok, then you are at the right place!
Sukhumvit
Hotels, bars, restaurants, clubs, stores, malls, and anything else you may desire is right on your doorstep in Sukhumvit, a developed and stylish neighbourhood of downtown Bangkok. These facilities are why it is widely known as the best location to stay in Bangkok! This region isn't very 'touristy' in the conventional sense, but it does have a lot of visitors who stay here. The region has a local flavour because of the numerous Thais who live and work there, even if there is a noticeable Western influence. Plus, the Skytrain passes through the heart of Sukhumvit, so you can travel just about wherever you need to go in a matter of minutes by hopping on the platform. In Sukhumvit, cabs are unnecessary! Tourist hotspots like Nana and Asok are where the Sukhumvit line begins. A wide variety of businesses may be found here, including massage parlours, Irish pubs, western eateries, nightclubs, street vendors, and more. It's probably the best area to stay in Bangkok, it's busy, but entertaining as well.
Going down the queue towards Thong Lor gives off an air of Thai affluence, and as you approach the end, you'll enter authentically native land where you won't hear a word of English and see very few foreigners. I would recommend a spot between the Asok and Thong Lor stations on the Sukhumvit line; however, you're free to remain wherever on the route. That way, you may experience the best of both worlds while being in the middle of all the activity.
Khao San
Anyone travelling across Southeast Asia on foot will inevitably pass through Khao San, Bangkok's most renowned street. This lively place is truly the best area to stay in Bangkok. Khao San is the spot to go in Bangkok if you're looking for a good time! You may find "happy hour" here at any time of day or night. This is a great spot to see regardless of whether you decide to stay or not. While you take in all the mayhem, grab a Chang beer from one of the many street bars. If you are looking for the best place to stay in Bangkok for tourists, this is it!
The bustling lanes around Khao San Road are home to inexpensive Thai street food vendors and marketplaces offering stylish, but reasonably priced, clothing, shoes, and accessories. On weekends, particularly, this neighbourhood comes alive with young Thais who come to soak up the market vibe and party all night long. The majority of guests along Khao San Road are youthful, budget-conscious travellers. Budget guesthouses and mid-range hotels abound, but you won't find many five-star hotels here.
Silom Area
Silom is one of the best locations to stay in Bangkok, as it is the city's commercial hub. Lumphini Park, Bangkok's biggest and most picturesque green park, lovely shops, and outstanding restaurants serving tasty, traditional Thai cuisine are all located here.
With its convenient proximity to many Skytrain and Subway (MRT) stations, this location serves as a great starting point for exploring the city. We love staying in Silom and Riverside, two of Bangkok's best neighbourhoods. Lumphini Park is Silom's crown jewel. It all begins in Lumphini Park on a lovely day in Bangkok. It's a beautiful spot for jogging or walking, and it's always entertaining to see so many people doing Tai Chi and aerobics there. Finally, we'll have a Mojito at the open-air rooftop bar 'Vertigo' atop the Banyan Tree Hotel after a tasty Thai dinner at one of our favourite restaurants. With so many facilities, it is one of the best places to stay in Bangkok for tourists!
Siam
Siam is the best location to stay in Bangkok if you're a shopaholic. Siam is the retail hub of Bangkok. You can't outshop Siam, no matter how much you shop. This one strip in Bangkok is home to some of the world's largest and finest shopping malls, including Siam Square, MBK, Centralworld, Siam Paragon, Siam Discovery, and Siam Centre. There are still boutique malls and street vendors to conquer once you conquer them. Our recommendation for a budget-friendly stay is the Nine Design Place, a boutique guesthouse that has a fantastic location, contemporary decor, and beautiful furnishings. Great rooms, only a five-minute walk from the tube, and around $50 a night. We highly suggest the Siam Kempinski for a more opulent stay; the accommodations are really beautiful, and the location is unbeatable, but the price tag will be over $300 per night. The facilities are second to none; you will spend all your time there thanks to the pool and gym.
