Among the most well-known beaches in this Indian Ocean island nation are Belle Mare, Flic-en-Flac, Trou aux Biches, and Île aux Cerfs. The island is ideal for diving and snorkelling because it is encircled by coral reefs. One of the main draws for tourists is its turquoise lagoons. This island country is one of the most picturesque honeymoon and romantic getaways!

The island country is renowned for its opulent resorts as well. Mauritius is a popular destination for honeymoons and romantic retreats because so many of them provide private villas, pools, and first-rate service.

A popular tourist destination in Mauritius is the little village of Chamarel. The seven different layers of colourful sand are what distinguish this location! Admire the colours as you ascend the observation deck, which include yellow, red, brown, violet, purple, green, and even blue. Purchase test tubes containing Chamarel's seven coloured sands as a memento. For yet another fantastic photo opportunity, visit the Chamarel Waterfalls on your way back.

Le Morne Brabant Mountain is very significant historically and retains a special place in Mauritius' hearts. It links us to our ancestors who were slaves. Slaves are said to have fled to this mountain in 1835, right before slavery was set to be outlawed. The slaves jumped to their deaths from the mountain because they were ignorant that the colonists were pursuing them and attempting to inform them that they were free.

A large metal cross now stands in for their struggle for liberty. 360-degree views of Mauritius' southwest region, with its verdant mountains and a stunningly blue ocean populated with kite surfers, are available from the summit. Although exhausting, the walk is worthwhile and the view is one of the reasons why Mauritius is one of the best romantic destinations in the world!

The ideal beaches for this pastime are Flic en Fac or Tamarin Bay, one of the best places in this island country!

Often referred to as the 'melting pot of flavours', this island country has a diverse range of cuisines. In Mauritius, a variety of markets offer international cuisine items. Interestingly, there is no unique cuisine of Mauritius; the island remained deserted until the Portuguese discovered it during their exploration of the Indian Ocean. Colonial governments turned Mauritius into a plantation colony, sending South Asian and African slaves and indentured servants to labour there. Voluntary migration eventually occurred as well. Their cuisines also blended throughout the decades to become Creole. It's obvious that their varied cuisine is a must-try.

Does that sound familiar to you? The Mauritius Falooda variation is called Alouda. It is created by dissolving agar-agar (which is derived from seaweeds), basil leaves, and milk with essence. It can be either pink or green in hue. Alouda Pillay in Port Louis is the greatest location to try Alouda. In order to ensure that you don't miss it, it is also offered extensively in Port Louis' central market.

Where to sample this? Try the Oberoi Bar in Pointe aux Piments, Big Willy's in Tamarin and Banana Beach Club in Grand Baie.

Black tea is grown in Bois Cheri and then flavoured with foreign ingredients. After seeing the Bois Cheri tea factory, sample this black vanilla tea while relaxing at the Bois Cheri café. One excellent tip is to buy some Bois Cheri tea from the store as well. You will definitely miss the flavour. Wondering where can you sip this? Bois Cheri Tea Factory on Bois Cheri Road in Mauritius is the place to try.

In addition to being another Indian delicacy, Hyderabadi biryani and Mauritian biryani are extremely similar. Long-grained Basmati rice, yoghurt, and an extensive selection of spices are used to make the flavoured rice. In order to keep the rice from burning or adhering to the vessel, potatoes are also positioned near the bottom. The greatest spot to eat Mauritian biryani is said to be Le Tandoor, which is close to Grand Bay. Don't you adore the layer of biryani rice crust that develops at the pan's bottom, crunchy socarrat? Where else can you find this? Try Pyramid Snacks on Mahebourg's Rue de Labourdonnais.
