On the Aravalli Range's foothills, there is a protected area called the Mount Abu Wildlife Sanctuary. The Aravalli Range's tallest peak, Guru Shikhar, is around 15 kilometres away from Mount Abu. It is named after a Hindu God,  Guru Dattatreya.
