Yet another Monday and yet another Fashion week round-up! This time it's the New York Fashion Week, a biannual event that showcases the latest collections, runway shows, presentations, and events for the upcoming seasons. Featuring some of the biggest names in fashion and entertainment, the NYFW did not disappoint during its Fall/Winter 2024 presentations as well. Here are some of the highlights that we'd like to talk about from the globally-lauded fashion week.
Collina Strada celebrates all things femme
Social media let out a collective ‘aww’ when designer-painter Karolina Liebers walked the Collina Strada show on Friday, with her five-month-old daughter Florence perched on her hip. There was yet another pleasant gasp when a baby bump was seen in all its glory; head designer Hillary Taymour expressed a campy and feminine persuasion through thirty six looks.
Helmut Lang champions practicality
From featuring age diversity to putting together ensembles that can be broken up and worn as individual pieces over and over again, this streetwear-centric fashion house made a case for practicality in fashion. In his second season for fall 2024, designer Peter Do elevated their street-ready basics by incorporating quirky elements and creating separates that resonate with the real world and real individuals.
0Sonam A Kapoor in the FROW
It's been a while since our own OG fashion girlie made an appearance at a major fashion event. And with a comeback worthy of its own viral moment, Sonam also happened to share the fashion week evening with popular Thai BL stars Phuwin Tangsakyuen and Naravit Lertratkosum. We wonder what kind of conversations did the trio strike up. And if Sonam will reveal the shade of red lip she has on if we drop a comment on her Insta!
Julia Fox Re-Inventing FROW Fashion
When ‘Mother’ Julia Fox showed up to Willy Chavarria's presentation set up in an old warehouse, lavish white robes took spiked in search results on the internet. The New York based actress has been fashion's most badly behaved muse (in all the right ways) and placed in a show of Willy's exploration of radical American style, Julia will be the reason why celebs claiming FROW seats will be expected to serve hard during fashion weeks. You read it here first!
Kim Shui's offbeat silhouettes
Never been able to answer the question, “So, where are you from?”, Kim Shui was born in the United States and raised in Italy, while seamlessly blending her Asian heritage with her work that honours every facet of her multicultural identity. For her NYFW presentation, the designer paired homage to year of the dragon in the Chinese zodiac. With dragon symbolism on the silhouettes, accessories and even choreography, the show was more a mood than a movie!
