The bronzers are a cosmetic essential for summer to add warmth and colour to your skin. It gives the face life by adding warmth as well as dimension to achieve a healthy and radiant look. You can add a face bronzer to your makeup routine, or maybe even use it every day on its own to give yourself a subtle glow. Generally, bronzers in makeup are applied to the areas of your face where you'd naturally be hit by the sun - like forehead, jawline, cheekbones etc. for defining and adding a bit of tan-sun kissed look to complexion.

  • When it comes to choosing the best bronzer for your skin tone and type, it all comes down to your skin and undertones. For example: if you have fair skin, look for light peachy shades, golden or warm bronzes on medium tones, and rich coppery colours for those with darker complexions.
  • While choosing the best bronzer for your skin, make sure the bronzer is appropriate for your undertone, like red or gold hints if you have warm undertones and pink or taupe with cool ones.
  • Now comes another essential part in choosing the best bronzer, and that is the finish of your product.
  • The matte bronzers will create a more natural effect and are suitable for contour, but if you want to get that extra glow go in with shimmer, go for a liquid bronzer. The general formula to choose according to your skin type is to choose powder bronzers for oily or combination skin, cream-based bronzers for dry skin types and stick types of bronzer for an on-the-go application.

1. Is bronzer the same as contour?

While they might seem similar, bronzer and contour are as different as possible. While the contour, as the name suggests helps contour the face shape by adding shadow to the desired areas, bronzer warms up the face and adds colour where the sun naturally hits the skin, giving it a seamless post vacay glow. This is why the bronzers are warm-toned, and the contours are cool-toned.

2. Can I use my contour as bronzer?

Unfortunately, you can't use your contour as your bronzer as they have different purposes and are designed so. If you use contour instead of bronzer, your face will look muddy or ashy, depending on the undertone.

3. Can dark-skinned people use bronzers?

This misconception has gone on for way too long. Your skin colour has nothing to do with bronzer as the product's job is not to further darken it. The bronzer is to be applied only at the points where the sun hits naturally on the face like cheekbones, nose bridge and upper forehead. This gives more definition to your face, and if it has shimmer added, then makes one look glamourous. However dark or light you're, there's a bronzer shade that'll flatter you.
