Modern women's outfits are using the timeless suiting element—the necktie, in fresh ways. And women are currently obsessed with the necktie style, indicating a clear trend away from heavy necklaces. The tie has transformed from a symbol of conformity and accuracy into a daring declaration of one's own style. It is quickly becoming the go-to accessory for ladies of all preferences and types, transcending its emo and boardroom origins.

Necktie fashion, at once whimsical and stylish, is a style power move that aligns perfectly with the current trend. With ties in bright colours, shiny finishes, and unique designs, this trend—which has only become stronger in 2025—adds character and interest to almost every outfit. This necktie isn't just for the men; it's a statement piece that reimagines self-expression via fashion. Famous people are showing their support for the revitalised power sign, including Selena Gomez and Ayo Edebiri.

Famous people are ditching their frilly fashions for something more dapper and professional: neckties. An edgier twist on workwear popular with internet natives, the "office siren" trend started early last year. No one should be surprised that new variations on classic workwear are on the horizon now that offices are really putting return-to-office plans into action.

Artists such as Janelle Monáe have been vocal supporters of the necktie style in the last year, helping to pave the way for its ascent with, among other things, contemporary takes on androgyny.

Neckties were a common sight on the spring/summer 2025 catwalks, with designers showcasing their own unique takes on the classic accessory. The collection by Saint Laurent, which included the much-touted return of Bella Hadid to the catwalk, featured the label's characteristic refined elegance in its free-flowing suits, sharp coats, and structured blazers. In contrast to this fitted style, there was a voluminous skirt section that drew inspiration from Yves Saint Laurent's paintings. This section skilfully combined the brand's famous history with a modern portrayal of the Saint Laurent woman—strong, seductive, and complex.

A lot of famous people don't work in cubicles, but that doesn't mean they don't like wearing suits and neckties. Justin Bieber and Hailey Bieber went out on a date in October at Funke, a popular restaurant in Los Angeles. Hailey wore a Saint Laurent spring 2025 collection necktie, a white button-up, and a grey double-breasted suit. Not only has Bieber tried wearing a necktie—perhaps in an entrepreneurial spirit—but she is far from the first fashionable star to do so. The awards season has previously shown to be a chance to experiment with a more dapper, manly look. Ralph Lauren's white suit was Selena Gomez's choice for the 2025 Palm Springs International Film Festival. However, by wearing a jacket with a nipped-in waist and slim-fitting pants that hung just over the floor, Gomez managed to keep her femininity.

A more modern example is Selena Gomez, who wore a monotone necktie with a toned-down, elegant outfit.

Conversely, Brooke Shields chose a more fitting and tailored style, which exudes an elegant and classic look—something that YSL has promoted a lot in their recent campaign.

Simultaneously, Jenna Lyons embodies the continuous evolution of this trend, creating a casual yet striking look with her necktie, jeans, and a fur-draped layer.

On a more domestic note, Ananya Panday wore a timeless Ralph Lauren ensemble at last November's Indian Sports Honours Awards. She updated the classic 80s power suit with her fitted pants and structured double-breasted flannel jacket. A white satin shirt and a subdued grey tie were the accessories Panday chose. A slicked-back hairdo, a striking ring, and a single diamond ear cuff were her only accessories, but they made a strong impression.

Kriti Sanon wore a gingham three-piece by the British brand Helen Anthony to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the United Nations Population Fund. The actress argued for cubicle-core style with a flowery necktie in rich burgundy. Sanon complemented her ensemble with oxblood heels, an oxidised rose brooch, and silver hoop earrings.

The fact that there are limitless opportunities to express oneself via clothing is one of the best parts of the fashion industry. One can easily borrow, use, and rethink a tie, a classic piece of menswear, to complement womenswear. This is the essence of what makes ties so entertaining. This motif serves as the basis for style advice. The way you wear it reflects your interpretation of power codes in fashion, whether it's firmly knotted. Celebrities have worn the design in a variety of settings, so you may find inspiration in their fitted and casual outfits.

Although the current trend of women wearing neckties may seem like a radical departure from the girly-focused coquette and dollcore styles, we attribute its resurgence to a mix of sentimentality and a desire to explore gendered clothes as a form of self-expression.
