The 74th Cannes International Film Festival in progress at Palais des Festivals, Cannes, France, has been welcoming the who's who of showbiz from across the globe since July 6. Scheduled to end on July 17, the festival organised after more than a year of COVID-induced gap, is witnessing a retro rewind trend on the red carpet. While most celebs are opting for minimal makeup, the hairstyles range from fringes to braids, andeven the 90s ponytail.

Supermodel Bella Hadid once again proved to be the centre of attention at the Cannes 2021 red carpet because of her huge, golden, lung necklace, that onlookers couldn't get enough of. A high bun, smoky eyes, and a shade of brown lip paint, is how she did her makeup. Her black coloured Daniel Roseberry gown from Schiaparelli Haute Couture, paired with jewels, specially the most talked about neckpiece, made her stand out in the crowd.

Donning a gorgeous blue, sequin gown, actor Salma Hayek carried her wavy locks on one shoulder. A single layer of braids resting like a crown was clipped with a golden head piece. Keeping the makeup simple, she went for bronze eyes, and soft pink lips.

Actor-model Jodie Turner-Smith carried a high ponytail on her Gucci chevron cream-coloured dress with stripes in shades of green and orange. Her hair all tied up allowed attention on her snake earrings, leather shoulder pads, and high neck collar. She also opted for the minimal make-up look.

French actor, model, singer, songwriter, Luo Doillon carried Parisian fringes and flicks, on her golden black, Gucci gown. With a pink tint on her lips and cheekbones, she paired her outfit with a black fur sleeve and silver rings. Complimenting her outfit was her heart-shaped silver clutch.

Middle-parted waves, nude makeup, on a one-shoulder Hedi Silmane Celine gown, paired with a silver clutch, bracelet and heels, is what model, singer, and former first lady of France, Carla Bruni wore at the Cannes red carpet this year. Her thigh-high slit was the main highlight.

Curls all tied up in the form of a messy bun, actor singer, Camélia Jordana, went for black smokey eye make-up, and nude lips. Her jewels did justice to her hot pink Valentino gown.

Another celeb to don a high ponytail was actor Marina Ruy Barbosa. It was interesting to watch her golden highlights complement her silver Dolce & Gabbana dress, paired with sliver jewels and heels.

Brazilian model, Luma Grothe's side fringe bun hairstyle brought back the retro vibes to the Cannes red carpet. Not to mention her golden sequin Zuhair Murad outfit, Messika Paris jewellery and Louboutin shoes. Her smokey eyes only added to the overall sparkle of her dress.

Italian designer, blogger, entrepreneur, Chiara Ferragni, was another celeb to flaunt a semi-braided hairstyle. Middle parted, messy blonde, guarded by two hanging braids, complemented her Giambattista Valli outfit and Bulgari jewels. The off-shoulder yellow gown with floral layers was a lot like summer goals.

Actor Haley Lu Richardson pulled a Frida Kahlo at the Cannes red carpet as she carried a floral bun with a white, off-shoulder Rodarte gown. Resting like a crown, the flowers on her head piece in shades of wine purple and pink, matched perfectly with her lip paint and jewels.
