INGREDIENTS

  • 3/4 cup turvedal and moong dal
  • 1 cup chopped methi leaves
  • 1 tomato chopped
  • 2 green chili paste
  • salt to taste
  • 2 tsp ghee
  • pinch turmeric 1/2 tsp
  • jeera 1/2 tsp
  • mustard 3-4 curry
  • leaves
  • pinch hing
  • 2 red chili
  • 1 tsp garlic paste
  • 1/2 tsp lemon juice

PREPARATION

  1. 1

    add dal to a pressure cooker rinse it very well pour water pressure cook for whistles.
  2. 2

    pluck methi leaves and add them to a large pot filled with water. rinse them and discard the water.
  3. 3

    when the dal is cooked mash it.
  4. 4

    pour ghee to a hot pan add cumin seeds mustard seeds.
  5. 5

    red chili when they start to splutter add hing.
  6. 6

    curry leaves and garlic paste saute add the tomato, green chili and saute add the methi leaves and fry until they wilt off completely.

    add turmeric and salt mix well add cooked dal to this and simmer.
  8. 8

    add lemon juice, if the methi dal is too thick pour some water and cook for a little longer.
  9. 9

    serve methi dal.
