Ingredients For Idli Sambhar - South Indian delicacy Recipe

  • 250 g Moon Dal lentil Fermented Overnight

  • 100 g Basmati Rice

  • 2-3 table spoon salt as required

  • 250 g Arhar Dal lentil

  • 50-100 g of different veggies like beans, tomatoes, onion, drumstick, lady finger, brinjal, bottle gourd, etc.

  • 5-10 g Ginger Garlic Paste

  • 1-2 tbsp of different spices like Red Chilli Powder, Salt, Coriander Powder, Turmeric Powder, Heeng Powder, Sabzi Masala

  • Few Bay Leaves, Cardamom pieces, Black Pepper crystals, cloves

  • 10-15 ml of Olive Oil, Refined Oil

  • Imli Juice 4-5 ml or Lemon Juice 5-10 ml

  • Sambhar Powder 3 tbsp

How to make Idli Sambhar - South Indian delicacy Recipe?

  1. Blend the Moong Dal in the mixer and let it ferment overnight; Add a Tbsp of salt in it
  2. Let the Arhar Dal soak in water for half an hour prior to cooking
  3. Boil the Arhar Dal in a pressure cooker for 15-20 minutes; add a little salt and turmeric powder in it
  4. Wash and cut all the vegetables precisely
  5. Take a container, preheat it for 30 seconds and add oil in it
  6. Add Chopped onions, Garlic, Ginger paste, then chopped tomatoes followed with all the spices like Salt, turmeric, coriander, sambhar masala, red chilli powder, sabzi masala, etc.
  7. Roast it for 10 minutes then add spices like clove, cardamom, bay leaves, black pepper, etc. Again fry it for 2-3 minutes
  8. Add different veggies in the mixture and let it cook for 5 minutes
  9. After that, add the boiled dal in it along with imli juice
  10. Side by side, cook the idlis in the idli maker in an empty pressure cooker.
  11. Put the idlis batter in the idli structure after applying oil or ghee to the base
  12. Wait for 15-20 minutes to let cook it properly, check by putting a knife and if it goes through the idlis, then it is done
  13. Take out the sambhar in a container and streaming hot idlis out of pressure cooker and serve it to the guests, family members
  14. Idli sambhar is best enjoyed hot so beware not burning your tongue in excitement
