Mumbai's chefs and dining scene are constantly on the go. With chic new bistros nestled in Bandra alleyways and experimental kitchens opening up in SoBo, the city's newest eateries are offering more than just food—they're serving up daring ideas, international flavours, and sombre attitudes. These new restaurants are eager to win your heart—and your appetite—whether you're a sucker for the ideal small plate or you're hoping to find the next Instagram-worthy dessert.
Gaijin, Khar
One of the freshest new restaurants in Bandra, Gaijin roughly translates to ‘outsider’ in Japanese, and serves a creative interpretation of the cuisine. Led by Chef Anand Morwani, this brand-new place offers a variety of hot and cold plates. The beverage section is curated by Varun Sudhakar and Nischal Suman, and as their Instagram suggests, is sake-soaked.
The interiors are Tokyo-inspired and serve as the perfect backdrop.
Paradox, Mahalaxmi
With what can only be described as a luxurious, extravagant take on Art Deco, Paradox Cocktail Bar is restaurateur Aditi and Aditya Dugar’s latest venture, and it is already winning hearts. Intimate and inviting, the bar has a smaller menu than most, but quite thoughtfully curated. And the food? Well, it'll just simply take you places.
Chowman, Andheri
Originally from Kolkata, Chowman has long been satiating our appetite for Chinese. And now it is Mumbai. The eatery opened its doors earlier this year and has had Mumbai folks loving it ever since.
Oh, and with their 'The Great Asian Food Festival' just around the corner, there is no better time to explore the Powai-based restaurant.
Cosmic Buns, Mazgaon
Looking for burgers that are out of this world? Well, Cosmic Buns is the place to be! Whether you dine in or order in to enjoy with friends, this newly opened Mumbai restaurant’s burgers are simply exceptional.
Cheesy burgers with juiciest patties, and halal-friendly? Cosmic Buns ticks all the boxes.
Joshi House, Worli
If you’ve been a regular on the Mumbai culinary scene, odds are, you’ve been to Joshi House at least once. The iconic eatery closed its doors in Bandra, only to re-emerge in Worli, bigger and better, if we might add.
The interiors now blend old school Rajasthani charm with understated modern details, but the food, which has always been the star of the show, remains the same, ever comforting and always inviting.
Baso Cafe, Andheri
If you are looking for a simple, chic, and cosy place to chill with your friends and spill it all over scrumptious food, this new restaurant in Mumbai is where you need to be.
Situated in the Fun Republic lane in Andheri, the cafe does a bit of everything. From comforting dishes like Cream Parmesan with Portobello and Oyster Mushroom Risotto, to the freshest of salads, they have it all. And oh, they just launched a Mango-inspired menu, making it just the perfect time to check them out in case you haven’t yet.
Bene Pizza and Pastry, Bandra
Bakeries in Bandra are plenty. What makes Bene special is not only their dedication to the craft but also the fact that their food is fun, fresh, and redefines what it means to eat well. The fact that it looks amazing certainly helps!
Whether it is the pizza, or the desserts, or the drinks, Bene just does everything with so much heart, you end up falling in love with flavours immediately.
Jaago Cafe, Carter Road
Need coffee to wake you up? Try Jaago Cafe. The quaint little cafe in Bandra is all about good vibes, and better food.
With their recently updated menu, this place is easily one of the best cafes in Mumbai to work out of. And if you’re caffeine-fuelled, your productivity with their selection of drinks and the cosy feels is only going to multiple.
Downtown 29, Borivali
Who said you had to go to SoBo every time you wanted to have a great evening? If you are on this side of the city, and crave good food, fun interiors, and a perfect place to chill with friends, Downtown 29 in Borivali is where you go.
From a Flintstones inspired bar to cosy nooks to enjoy live IPL screenings, this newly opened Mumbai restaurant has it all.
Ministry of Naan, Chembur
Scrumptious flavours on the go? Ministry of Naan is where you should be. This newly opened restaurant in Mumbai serves the most decadent of North Indian cuisine, made with whole heart, and dallops of ghee.
Not just food, their drive-in concept is great too. Nostalgic, fun, and thoughtfully designed too. The packaging is car friendly, and the views are amazing!
