Every time we have a bigger group to serve, portion sizes become the most important factor, and buying several packets of nachos could become an expensive affair. And we know how painful it is for snacks to run out in the middle of your evening. A homemade nacho platter is just perfect because you can make as many tortilla chips as you need, and customise the flavour of nachos to suit your taste, all without burning a hole in your pocket.

Nachos are one of the most versatile munchies and can be paired with dips and toppings that are as simple or as elaborate as you’d like.
The oldie nachos and salsa pairing is truly a goldie because it comes together in minutes. With simple ingredients like tomatoes, onions, coriander, salt and lime juice, you get a refreshing dip that makes the crunchy nachos even more enjoyable.

To add a dash of creaminess, serve your homemade nacho platter with guacamole. Avocados take on the flavour of any seasonings you add, making them a perfect pairing for nachos. You are probably already thinking of adding sour cream to elevate this at-home nacho recipe, and for that, you have our enthusiastic support!

In case you want to serve nachos as an appetizer instead of finger food, the best way to do that is to make loaded nachos. With a little bit of advanced prep time, you can keep the guacamole, salsa, and kidney beans ready and refrigerated. Layer these up with your homemade nacho chips and top it up with sour cream and cheese. Voila, your loaded nachos are ready to be devoured!

  1. In a bowl, add makai atta, whole wheat flour, black pepper, haldi, salt, and oil. Mix well.
  2. Start adding water gradually to combine everything to form a smooth dough.
  3. Preheat your oven to 180 degrees Celsius. This generally takes 15-20 minutes in an OTG. Check the settings of your microwave if you are using it in convection mode.
  4. While the oven reaches the required temperature, divide the dough into equal-sized balls.
  5. Gently roll out each portion evenly. Avoiding thick patches in the rolled sheet will give you light, crispy nachos.
  6. Place them evenly on the baking tray and bake for 20 to 30 minutes, or until they turn golden brown and crispy.
  7. Let the homemade nacho chips come down to room temperature, as they will become crispier.
  8. Serve and enjoy your very own version of nachos with your favourite toppings and dips!

Never underestimate the power of a simple-looking nacho chip for it holds the ability to unite people and set the stage for wonderful conversations and good times. What was invented in 1943 Texas to cater to people after hours has ended up becoming an iconic snack that people across the world have made their own. So, why not try making your own homemade nachos and make amazing memories at the table with your loved ones?
