Embodying the spirit of Onam, the annual harvest celebration — ITC Grand Central, the renowned South Indian fine dining restaurant — Dakshin, is coming up with an exquisite Onam Sadya from 6th to 15th September 2024.

The authentic traditional supper will be prepared by talented chefs, who will create a menu that will capture the grandeur of Kerala’s Onam celebrations. The age-old recipe platter will begin with Sambaram (refreshing spiced buttermilk), followed by — Pyaru Thovaran (stir beans fry made with a coarse paste of coconut and chilli), Kootu Curry (a vegetable medley cooked in brown coconut gravy), Avial (spicy combination of vegetables simmered in coconut, yoghurt, and chilli paste), Olan (white pumpkin and black-eyed beans simmered in coconut milk and chilli), Kalan (yam and raw banana cooked in coconut and yoghurt), Erissery (red pumpkin and green gram dal in coconut curry), Parupu Thalichathu (lentil curry), Kaitachakka Pachadi (pineapple cooked with coconut and spices) and Thakkali Rasam (a tempered lentil, tomato, and tamarind extract).

To enhance the experience further Murungakai Sambar (drumstick and lentil curry), paired with Kuthari Choru (Kerala red rice) will be served. And not to forget, desserts are a must for any Onam Sadya, so a Parippu Pradhaman (cooked lentils with jaggery and sweetened coconut milk), and Pal Adai (cooked steamed rice flakes in milk with cardamom), provide a delightful and filling way to end the meal.

Every bite of the Sadya will be layered with texture and flavour thanks to traditional accompaniments like crisp salted banana chips, crunchy Pappadam, tangy tamarind and ginger chutney, sharkara upperi (Nendran banana chips coated in jaggery), and tamarind and ginger pickle, Naranga Achar.
