Bollywood and biopics have proven to be a stellar combination, and in the long list of sports biopics, the recent addition happens to be a biopic on the life of Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh. Backed by T Series, the Yuvraj Singh movie will be co-produced by Ravi Bhagchandka, who prior to this had also been the force behind Sachin Tendulkar’s biopic titled Sachin: A Billion Dreams. The news about Yuvraj Singh biopic was shared by the producers as well as the cricketer himself, on social media, and while the cast is yet to be announced, one cannot help but fathom who will be Yuvraj Singh biopic actor!
While this is all that was confirmed by the cricketer today, a Variety report suggested that the film is expected to recreate the most iconic moment in Yuvraj's long career where he had hit six sixes in a single over against England in the semi-finals during the 2007 T20 World Cup, where India had eventually won. Apart from this, the story is also assumed to highlight Yuvraj Singh’s story of sheer grit and courage, where from being a star cricketer one day, he went to being a cancer patient, which had shattered not only him, but a million hearts worldwide. How he has recuperated, fought hard, and made his way back, with support from his family and love from his fans, will also be key parts in the Yuvraj Singh movie.
For the uninitiated, in 2011, Yuvraj Singh was diagnosed with cancer and post his battle with illness, he had a triumphant return to cricket in 2012. We can’t help but wonder if Yuvraj Singh movie will also feature his retirement from international cricket in 2019. While details on that are still under wraps, Yuvraj Singh shared excitedly in an interview, "I am deeply honoured that my story will be showcased to millions of my fans across the globe by Bhushan-ji and Ravi. Cricket has been my greatest love and source of strength through all the highs and lows. I hope this film inspires others to overcome their own challenges and pursue their dreams with unwavering passion”.
