Well, well! Hold on a second. If you haven't heard, the most wonderful day of the year is here—a day dedicated entirely to honouring love at its most innocent. This is Galentine's Day, not Valentine's Day.

The annual Galentine's Day celebration takes place on February 13th, the day before Valentine's Day. It's like V-Day for buddies, except with a twist. It's a non-official celebration honouring the bonds of sisterhood and friendship between female friends (and friends of any gender, really).
What is Galentine’s Day?
On Valentine's Day, you're probably stuck with the same old date night script (although, just so you know, there are lots of inventive possibilities beyond a nice dinner reservation), but on Galentine's Day, you're basically free to do anything you want. Indulge in a lavish dinner party, treat yourself to breakfast, gather your girlfriends for a quiet wine and cheese evening, swap presents, plan a Girls Only bash, schedule a spa day, etc. This is the day to celebrate your non-romantic loves—your besties—in whichever way you see fit.
Happy Galentine Day - How did it start?
It may come as a surprise, but Amy Poehler is really responsible for arranging this joyous occasion. Oh, I guess so. The word was first used in 2010 during the second season of the comedy program Parks and Recreation by her fictitious character, Leslie Knope. "What is Galentine's Day?" she asks in one episode. It is, in fact, the most wonderful day of the year. As a group of women, we have a party every year on February 13th and simply hang out, leaving our spouses and boyfriends at home. In a nutshell, it's the most amazing manufactured holiday ever!
There are no hard and fast rules about how to celebrate G-Day; nevertheless, the main idea is to celebrate the bond you share with your female friends, regardless of whether they are single or not, and to give them more love and attention than usual. Similar to Friendsgiving, Galentine's Day is a time for friends to gather and shower each other with affection; however, the focus is usually on the strength and unity of women.
Celebrating Galentine’s Day - The history
In contrast to Valentine's Day, which has a long history of being anti-single, Galentine's Day is all about strong female friendships and positive, powerful energy. It follows that the holiday welcomes all kinds of people, whether you identify as "Single," "Taken," "Complicated," or any combination thereof. So, sure, regardless of your relationship status, you are more than welcome to partake in the female friendship celebrations.
How to celebrate Galentine’s Day - Some ideas
Netflix and Chill - The Galentine way
If you want to avoid crowded venues on Galentine's Day, then spending time with your closest pals over wine and Netflix is the way to go. Prepare for the day by gathering your favourite pyjamas, face mask, nail and pedicure tools, takeout from your go-to spot and your preferred bottle of wine. Do something relaxing for yourself while watching a movie or TV program.
Dress to impress and go out to supper
On Galentine's Day, go all out with your girlfriends by going out on a date night in your most glamorous outfits. Reminisce about the wonderful times you've shared and fill them in on what's occurring in your life. Pick a restaurant that everyone loves or has some significance in your life, and you're good to go for supper.
Throw a themed party
On Galentine's Day, a themed party is the best. Pick a theme that both you and your gal pals will love before you worry about how to pull it off. Anything goes, from popular BTS memes to beloved Marvel characters to 90s Bollywood, Barbie, and more. Put on your party hats and get ready for a day filled with themed activities, such as decorating the space, creating themed food and beverages, and more. Additionally, you may put together a customised gift basket and exchange them between each other.
All you can eat buffets
This is a fantastic plan if you and your girlfriends have a passion for delicious cuisine. You may spend the day making everyone's favourite meals and desserts and beverages, and then you can sit down and enjoy them for lunch or supper.
