For lovers of horror mystery films, August comes bearing renowned director M Night Shyamalan’s Trap movie. With the first look being released at this year’s CinemaCon in Las Vegas, the anticipation for this movie has been high, the trailer drop has only hyped it up further. As the logline for the film suggests, Trap movie follows the story of a man and his teenage daughter who are attending a concert except midway the father realises that unknowingly they’re at the centre of a dark and sinister event. What follows makes the story for the plot of Trap (2024)

Last seen in Oppenheimer, Josh Hartnett plays the leading role of the father in the Trap movie. You might also remember the actor from Pearl Harbour and Black Hawk Down. Apart from him, Trap movie cast includes Wolf Like Me fame Ariel Donaghue who plays his daughter, and Dream Scenario fame Marnie McPhail, Pollyanna’s Hayley Mills, and Star Trek: Picard star Alison Pill in supporting roles. A fun addition to the Trap movie cast is Shyamalan’s daughter and musician, Saleka Shyamalan, who plays the singing sensation Lady Raven whose concert the father-daughter duo is attending.
Trap movie trailer - All we know
The Trap movie trailer dropped on April 18 and generated quite a response from the audience. The father-daughter duo are seen all set to enjoy the concert and make their way into the venue, when the father, played by Josh Hartnett, makes his way out to the washrooms, and spots heavy security surrounding the venue. As any concerned parent would, he’s seen asking a staff member about it, only to learn that the security forces are trying to set up a trap at the concert for a serial killer called ‘The Butcher’ who is suspected to be at the concert.
In classic Shyamalan fashion, the Trap movie trailer then shows the concerned father rushing into a washroom stall, only to open his home security app, and lo and behold, there is a victim tied up in his basement. Is the father the serial killer? Or is he a step ahead of the police and already has the butcher in his hold? Questions are many, and for answers, we only have the Trap movie release date to look forward to. As announced with the trailer, Trap movie release date is August 9, 2024, and we can’t wait for it to arrive sooner.
