One Piece season 3 announcement
During Tokyo's annual ONE PIECE Day celebration, Netflix revealed that the grand pirate adventure had been renewed for a third season ahead of schedule. Later this year, production will begin in Cape Town, South Africa, on the third season. Joe Tracz and Ian Stokes will be working together as co-showrunners, writers, and executive producers.
In 2026, the show will be back for a second season.
One Piece- the globally beloved manga to smash hit live action series
Together with Shueisha, Tomorrow Studios (a partner of ITV Studios) and Netflix developed the live-action pirate adventure One Piece. Since its 2023 summer launch, Netflix's live-action One Piece adaptation has been a global phenomenon, and fans have naturally been eagerly awaiting the release of season 2. While revealing the first look at One Piece season 2, Netflix also announced that season 3 is definitely on its way, so now you have to start another one. It is no small task to bring popular manga and anime storylines to life on Netflix, but with One Piece, they seem to have succeeded. Drawing from the original story by Eiichiro Oda, who is also involved in the live-action adaptation of the series, One Piece tells the tale of a youthful pirate called Monkey D. Luffy, portrayed by Iñaki Godoy, who had a childhood dream of becoming a pirate and gained superhuman elasticity (along with a quasi-mortal vulnerability to water) after consuming a devil fruit. He has now resolved to retrieve the One Piece, Gold Roger's long-lost treasure, and ascend to the position of pirate king.
Following the original chapters of the manga and anime closely, Season 1 of One Piece on Netflix introduced us to Luffy as he enlists Zoro, Nami, Usopp, and Sanji as the founding members of the Straw Hat Pirates. The story captivated viewers worldwide.
The series has also been renewed for a third season ahead of schedule, as stated in the Netflix video announcement. Ian Stokes will join Joe Tracz as co-showrunner, writer, and executive producer for the upcoming third season, which will begin production in Cape Town, South Africa, this autumn.

One Piece season 2 release date
Although the official teaser for One Piece season 2 has not been revealed just yet, on August 9, 2025, in celebration of One Piece Day, Netflix provided a sneak peek at the highly anticipated second season that resembles a trailer. While the streaming service has not yet revealed when exactly One Piece season 2 will be available, they have said that it will be sometime in 2026

The Straw Hat Pirates arrive in Loguetown and face new enemies as a team in the first-look trailer, which you can see below. The video contains a clear reference to the Whisky Peak Arc, which is part of the Arabasta Saga, and in it, Luffy vows, "Everything I've done, everywhere I go, is for the One Piece." It also features the first looks at many new characters. Additionally, the official title of One Piece: Into the Grand Line for season 2 has been confirmed. The clip, which clocks in at just over a minute, gives viewers something to think about, but they will still have to wait for Season 2 to have a solid release date. At the very end of today's One Piece Season 2 teaser, the Straw Hat Pirate crew confirms their return for Season 3 "soon." One Piece season 2 cast
The live-action One Piece series on Netflix features actors Iñaki Godoy (Monkey D. Luffy), Mackenyu (Roronoa Zoro), Emily Rudd (Nami), Jacob Romero Gibson (Usopp), and Taz Skylar (Sanji). At least for now, these five individuals make up the Straw Hats team. You can expect to see them again in One Piece season 2, as they are all regulars on the show.
Although they have not been officially announced, recurring characters are also likely to make an appearance in season 2.
