We have finally received confirmation that our beloved Spider-Man, portrayed by British actor Tom Holland, will be making a triumphant comeback to our screens shortly, four years after the premiere of No Way Home, and fresh information is appearing every day. In the 2017 premiere of Spider-Man: Homecoming, Holland made her heroic debut. Zendaya and Jacob Batalon, who played the film's primary supporting roles, were also there.

Unexpectedly and delightfully, Sadie Sink from Stranger Things is reportedly joining Tom Holland in the highly anticipated Spider-Man 4 (officially titled Spider-Man: Brand New Day).

After donning the Spider-Man suit a second time in 2019's Spider-Man: Far From Home, Holland returned for the third and final instalment of the trilogy in 2021's Spider-Man: No Way Home, which included appearances by former Spider-Men Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire. Fans have already started to speculate about what this new Spider-Man movie will include because Tom Holland teased that he would be donning the original outfit.

Spider-Man super-fans discovered on August 8 that the official Instagram account for the film had erased all of its previous posts. Marvel and Sony quickly followed up with an eight-second video showcasing Peter Parker's outfit. This close-up view reveals the iconic blue and red colour scheme, as well as elevated webbing highlights reminiscent of Sam Raimi's Spider-Man trilogy. This costume, which is textured and glittering, contrasts with the high-tech outfits worn by Tom Holland's Peter Parker in the first three Marvel Cinematic Universe Spider-Man films, and is typical of current superhero movie costumes.

Marvel finally announced on March 31, 2025, that the fourth Spider-Man film would be named Spider-Man: Brand New Day, after years of referring to the unannounced production as Spider-Man 4. Before making its way to social media, the title was revealed at CinemaCon in Las Vegas during a panel. Holland used the phrase "a fresh start" to characterise Brand New Day throughout the event. A source close to the situation has said that Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios are considering casting Emmy winner Carrie Coon in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. This information was shared by insider Jeff Sneider on a recent edition of The Hot Mic podcast. Coon, who starred as Proxima Midnight in Avengers: Infinity War, is reportedly in talks to play another villain for Marvel.

"I know we left you with a massive cliffhanger at the end of No Way Home, so Spider-Man: Brand New Day is a fresh start. It is exactly that," Holland said. “That’s all I can say. That's all I've been allowed to say. And I'm well over the hump of giving away spoilers, so don't be worried. I'm not going to do that today. But thank you for your support. It's always a joy, and I will be back next year, hopefully.”

A little over a year remains before Spider-Man: Brand New Day hits theatres. July 31, 2026, is when the highly anticipated sequel to the critically acclaimed Spider-Man: No Way Home will be released in theatres. Dr Strange's magic wiped everyone's memories of Peter and his secret identity as Spider-Man. When we last saw Peter Parker, he was grappling with the effects of this event. Nonetheless, Parker doesn't give up, and he eventually gets his GED and builds a new suit to start again.

Holland, Zendaya, and Jacob Batalon are all set to return for Spider-Man: Brand New Day, where they will all play Peter Parker/Spider-Man. The ensemble is expanding to include Liza Colón-Zayas, Jon Bernthal (who will make his Marvel Cinematic Universe cinematic debut as Frank Castle/Punisher), and Sadie Sink. Shang-Chi and Destin Daniel Cretton, who directed The Legend of the Ten Rings, are behind the camera for Brand New Day.

As of this writing, Spider-Man: Brand New Day has a July 31, 2026, release date in the theatres. The movie's premiere has been postponed from its original planned date of a week later.

Apart from Tom Holland’s famous trilogy, there are other viewing recommendations before you watch Spider-Man: Brand New Day.  Punisher is a must-watch, as this series aligns tonally with Brand New Day’s street-level vibe. The film features The Punisher (Jon Bernthal), and Born Again establishes his gritty world. The upcoming film is positioned between Captain America: Brave New World and Thunderbolts in the MCU timeline, and it precedes the larger crossover Avengers: Doomsday.
