Hoodfishing is one of the terms that got coined because of the dating trends in New York City, where people would phish their potential dates to believe they live in a hip and happening neighbourhood like the Upper East Side, Manhattan, or even Queens when in reality, they happen to be from neighbouring regions like New Jersey, or Long Island.
While it may seem harmless, hoodfishing is one of the more annoying dating trends that have taken off in the past some time because if you fall for it, it is extra work, making the distance work, but more importantly, it just isn’t ethical.
The proponents of hoodfishing argue that it has significantly increased their match rates, and has landed them so many good gates, given that dating trends in these happening neighbourhoods can be very different from the ones in the suburbs.
