Pizza is adored by people all across the globe, and with good reason. Pizza, a flatbread topped with cheese and sauce and your choice of meat (chicken, beef, or veggies), went from relative obscurity before WWII to centre stage thereafter. You won't meet many people who don't enjoy pizza, and we absolutely get that. Each bite of pizza offers a unique experience. Additionally, many different cultures and nations have tried and tested this recipe, and each time it tastes just as good as the first. Based on the results of the Yale Food Addiction Scale, pizza is the food item most linked to compulsive overeating. Its texture, colour, and complementary flavour profile are a few of its enticing qualities, coupled with its delectable fat-and-carbohydrate combo.

There is an almost limitless number of pizza records kept by Guinness World Records. Listed below are a handful:

  • Pizza Hut and YouTuber Airrack of Los Angeles created a pie that measured 13,990 square feet, making it the biggest pizza in the world.
  • Paul Fenech once made the longest pizza delivery ever—from Madrid to Wellington, New Zealand—to personally bring a pie to Niko Apostolakis. The distance was 12,346.6 miles (19,780 km). CNN was unable to determine if Apostolakis really ate the pizza or whether it was very cold when it arrived.
  • The highest point on land where pizza may be delivered: I am happy to report this! Reaching the peak of Tanzania's Mount Kilimanjaro may be the key to convincing Pizza Hut to send you a celebratory feast. After all, it's not their first experience.

Celebrating National Pizza Day? Know more about the history of pizza! Egyptians, Romans, and Greeks all enjoyed flatbreads topped with various foods. Pizza, on the other hand, was born in the Campania area of southern Italy, where Naples is located. The couple reportedly became sick of their constant French fare during their 1889 visit to Naples with King Umberto I and Queen Margherita. So they went to Pizza Brandi, a pizzeria in the city, and ordered a variety of pizzas. The pie with mozzarella, a kind of soft white cheese, crimson tomatoes, and verdant basil was a favourite of Queen Margherita. The name "Margherita pizza" has stuck ever since for pizzas with those specific ingredients.
