From SRK Feeling 'Lalchi', to Nayanthara Winning, Highlights From Dadasaheb Phalke Awards 2024

The Dadasaheb Phalke Awards 2024 took place in Mumbai this year. A lot of interesting things happened in the awards ceremony which you should know.

Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Festival Awards 2024, which celebrates excellence, in cinema, was held in Mumbai on February 20. The city saw a glam spectacle with an array of stars from the Hindi film industry making their presence felt. Shah Rukh Khan and Nayanthara stole the limelight as they were honoured with the awards of Best Actor and Actress, for their remarkable performance in the Atlee-directed 'Jawan'. It is interesting to note that it has been many years since the actor won a Best Actor award. During his gratitude filled acceptance filled, he revealed that he doubted if he would ever win anytime soon. He also mentioned, "Mujhe awards bhaut ache lagte hai, main thoda laalchi hu, greedy hu".

A clip showing Shah Rukh Khan receiving the award has been doing rounds on SRK's Universe Fan Club's X page. The megastar was seen dancing on an impromptu rendition of 'Chaleya' which hogged the limelight. He was also seen giving a kiss on Nayanthara's forehead as she came on the stage to collect the award, before performing the hook step for a second time. Nayanthara looked elegant in the clip, with her hair tied neatly in a bun as she wore a bright yellow saree. Doesn't she look like a ray of sunshine?

 Bobby Deol who essayed the role of Abrar in 'Animal' won the award for Best Actor in a Negative Role. His powerful performance got him widespread fame, earning appreciation from fans and critics. Not to forget, Abrar's entry scene and 'Jamal Kudu' playing in the background is the highlight of the movie. Sandeep Reddy Vanga won the award for Best Director for his box office hit film ‘Animal’ starring Rashmika Mandanna and Ranbir Kapoor. Meanwhile, Vicky Kaushal's exceptional depiction of Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw in ‘Sam Bahadur’ earned him the esteemed Best Actor (Critics) award. 

Now, among the list of stars present former couple Kareena Kapoor Khan and Shahid Kapoor collided with one another.  Fans were quick to note that Kareena did not acknowledge the 'Farzi' actor and walked past him. It looked as if she deliberately ignored her ex. Despite, Shahid smiling at her, Kareena continued to walk on her path. The highlight of the award function was when SRK met Rani Mukerji, posed strikingly and evoked nostalgic sentiments among fans who remembered, 'Kuch Kuch Hota Hai'. Fans were rooting for their reunion, marveling the epic chemistry between the two stars.

To talk about the Dadasaheb Phalke Awards 2024 Award,  it unfurled in an evening brimming with talent, glamour and cinematic brilliance, celebrating the best of Indian cinema. This year, the event had taken place at Taj Lands End, Bandra.
