Indian Athletes Are Ready To Conquer Paralympics 2024

Post the Summer Olympics 2024, Paris is all set to host Paralympic Games 2024, and here's what you need to know.

Set to start tomorrow, the Paralympics 2024 have brought the focus back to Indian athletes who will be trying their luck at the competitions to be hosted in Paris, France. While at the Olympics 2024, India managed to barely register itself, with one silver, and 5 bronze medals, all eyes will be on the Paralympics 2024 Indian players, with the country hoping that they win big. 
India at Paralympics 2024 contingent has 84 competitors, with the highest in athletics, followed by shooting, both of which happen to be the only fields where the country won any medals in the Olympics 2024. Apart from these two, Paralympics 2024 Indian players will also be competing in sports like paracanoeing, powerlifting, cycling, table tennis, etc.

The inauguration ceremony for the Paralympic Games 2024 will be held on the 28th of August, 2024. The next day, the Paralympics 2024 schedule starts with para-badminton, and 4 Indian athletes will be on the courts, battling it out. Manasi Girishchandra Joshi will be seen competing against Qonitah Ikhtiar Syakuroh from Indonesia, Palak Kohli against Milena Surreau of France, and Thulusimathi Murugesan against Rosa Efomo de Marco of Italy in the women’s section while Tarun will take on Rogerio Junior Xavier de Oliviera of Brazil in the men’s section. 
Team India at Paralympics this year will also be making their debut in blind Judo with Kapil Parmar and Kokila who secured their places following the publication of the IBSA Paralympic Rankings. Apart from this, for the followers of India at Paralympics, many athletes who have previously proved their mettle, will be seen at the games this year too, including Avani Lekhara, who happens first Indian woman to win a Paralympic gold medal and is also ranked world no. 1 in Women's 10m Air Rifle standing SH1 (World Shooting Para Sports Rankings).
