Yazu Bengaluru Gets Pan-Asian Right Without Trying Too Hard

Yazu curates a culinary sojourn across Asia, bringing bold flavours, regional techniques, and immersive dining together under one roof.

At a time when Pan-Asian restaurants are proliferating, this cuisine may become somewhat oversaturated, but as we stepped into Yazu, an alfresco Pan-Asian supper club, we were pleasantly surprised! From their incredibly famous beach club in the heart of Goa to their well-loved outlets in Mumbai, Yazu opened its doors in Bengaluru—right in the heart of the iconic St. Mark’s Road. From sampling their fresh sashimi to going on a cocktail trip across Asia, here’s what Yazu has to offer!

We spoke with Pratyush, who heads marketing at Yazu, and he distilled the brand’s philosophy into a statement that is both simple and disarmingly clear: “We stick to the roots.” It is an approach that quietly shapes everything at Yaz, from the way flavours are treated to how traditions are respected, resulting in food that feels grounded, intentional, and refreshingly honest. And this philosophy shone through the food and the drinks that we sampled.

Walk into an oriental reverie

You can tell right away that the space is very earthy and natural. Deep oxblood and maroon upholstered chairs anchor the dining area, offset by dark wood tables and sculptural bases that feel substantial rather than ornamental. One wall features an expansive mural inspired by traditional Asian landscapes, rendered in soft neutrals and flowing lines, adding visual depth without overwhelming the space.

Lighting is a standout element. Oversized lantern-style pendant lights with warm amber hues hang low over tables, casting a soft, intimate glow that makes the restaurant feel both cocooned and expansive. The Bengaluru outlet also opens out to a terrace-style seating area, where striped cushions, indoor plants, and woven lamp shades create a relaxed yet polished atmosphere against the city’s winter sunshine.

Unmistakably Asian, authentic and delicious

We recommend you begin your journey with the Chicken Sriracha dumplings. The wrapper was delectably chewy and thin, enveloping the spicy and well-balanced sriracha chicken mince in a chilly plum sauce. Dip that in their house-made chilli and scallion oil for the perfect first bite! We also tried the Lamb Donburi, which felt like a savoury warm hug in the chill Bengaluru weather. If you’re craving Japanese, then you cannot go wrong with the sashimi platter—because it arrives with a show of its own, and the best part is that it tastes better than it looks. With buttery scallops, tuna, and salmon on display, this is an indulgence that tastes like the ocean. Fresh, clean and rich—the sashimi is a must try! Pair that with their fresh yuzu lemon and a dip of soy for a bite you’ll be thinking about all day. For entrees, the grilled pork robatayaki clearly impressed—perfectly crispy golden edges and a core that melts into your mouth, infusing soy and sweet flavours.

A cocktail menu as inventive and well-travelled as the cuisine itself

As the meal unfolded, it felt only natural to explore Yazu’s cocktail menu—an inventive, city-led collection inspired by flavours from across Asia, each drink rooted in a distinct urban influence. Thoughtfully curated and currently exclusive to their Bengaluru outlet, the cocktails mirror the food’s philosophy, offering yet another way to travel across Asia without leaving the table. We started our trip in Bangkok with their savoury cocktail experience with the Tom Yumm, which is a delicious clarified gin cocktail that bursts with tangy, umami and the unmistakable kaffir lime and galangal notes that instantly transports you to Bangkok. Inventive, delicious, and we assure you—you’ll be reaching for seconds. We journeyed on to Seoul- with the Pickle In My Tickle, another gin cocktail inspired by the kimchi fermentation process.

You’ll get hints of raw mango that seamlessly blend in with ginger seltzer, enjoy with a slice of kimchi to really hone in the experience. We went for a coffee run in Japan and Vietnam- with their two coffee-based cocktails Umami Cloud and Revese Brew. While the Umami Cloud delightfully surprised us with the delicious blend of whiskey, miso and coffee, Reverse Brew really tasted unlike any other coffee cocktail. Inspired by the thriving coffee culture of Vietnam, this cocktail tasted like a Vietnamese coffee reimagined—made with Creyente Mezcal, with hints of Campari and coffee liquor and topped with condensed milk foam. If you are not a coffee person, you will be now!

Deceptively simple yet delicious desserts

We ended the meal on a sweet note with their Coconut Panna Cotta and Hot Chocolate Soufflé. While the coconut panna cotta was a tropical delight, with its well-balanced sweetness that let the coconut shine by itself, the hot chocolate soufflé stole the show. It arrived with an entourage of its own, accompanied by biscuit and vanilla ice cream. The decadent hot chocolate soufflé, pillowy warm and bittersweet at first bite, explodes into chocolatey goodness in your mouth! Top that off with the cooling vanilla, and add some textural accessory with the crumbled biscuits for a bite that is one to remember.

Yazu’s Bengaluru outpost proves that pan-Asian dining need not feel repetitive when rooted in clarity and craft. With thoughtful interiors, confidently executed flavours, and a cocktail programme that travels with intent, Yazu delivers an experience that feels immersive, considered, and genuinely memorable and one that lingers long after the last bite.
