Usually served as a fast food option, potato wedges is a classic dish and everyone’s favourite. A great option for an appetiser, or a quick snack, potato wedges can be roasted, baked or fried. Nowadays, crispy potato wedges are mostly prepared by air frying the potatoes along with seasonings. Very often potato wedges are confused with french fries, both are however different, french fries are prepared from rather thinner strips of potato, whereas potato wedges have a different shape and are prepared from thicker, moon shaped pieces of potato. Recipe for wedge fries usually involves partially boiled potatoes, which are fried or roasted along with certain seasonings.

Potato wedges ingredients

  1. 4 medium-sized potatoes
  2. ¾ tsp salt
  3. 2 tbsp oil
  4. ¼ cup corn flour
  5. ½ tsp crushed pepper
  6. ½ tsp Kashmiri red chilli powder
  7. ½ tsp mixed herbs, basil, marjoram and oregano

Steps for preparing crispy potato wedges

  1. Peel the skin of the potatoes, and chop them into thick wedges. Cut the potatoes into 8 wedges each.
  2. Thereafter boil the potatoes by adding salt to the water, for approximately 3 minutes.
  3. Drain the potatoes, and keep them aside. Let the potatoes cool completely. 
  4. Coat the potatoes in 2 tbsp of oil.
  5. Prepare the seasoning wedges food recipe by adding ¼ cup corn flour, ½ tsp pepper, ½ tsp chilli powder and ½ tsp mixed herbs. Mix well and make sure the potato wedges are uniformly coated in corn flour. 
  6. In case you are opting for the recipe for roasted potato wedges, roast the potato wedges at 180 degrees Celsius for 15-18 minutes, till the potatoes turn golden and crisp.
  7. Alternatively for a fried potato wedge recipe, deep fry the potatoes in hot oil. Stir occasionally till they are evenly cooked and turn golden and crispy.
    Season the cooked potato wedges with salt and chilli powder before serving., and serve alongside tomato ketchup.
