As the temperatures rise, so does the heat on your favorite streaming platforms! The lineup for Q2 is out, and starting this April, expect a fresh wave of content to keep you hooked to your seats. Whether it is Bollywood stars making OTT debuts, new seasons of our beloved shows lining up, or gripping new storylines, new releases in April promise to be quite a blast.
1. Test
Starring R Madhavan, Nayanthara, and Siddharth, this new release on Netflix is a thrilling drama we are quite excited about. This upcoming Tamil release follows the lives of three ordinary people- a scientist, a teacher, and a cricketer- which converge in the midst of a historic cricket match, forcing them to make life-altering decisions.
Set to release on April 4, this new Netflix release will also be available in Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam, and Kannada.
2. Jewel Thief - The Heist Begins
This new Netflix release marks the OTT debut of filmmaker Siddharth Anand’s production house Marflix. Starring Saif Ali Khan as a suave conman locked in a high-stakes battle with a mafia boss played by Jaideep Ahlawat, this will be quite a watch. Joining the leading men, who are known for their acting chops, will be Kunal Kapoor and Nikita Dutta in supporting roles. The adrenaline-fueled new Netflix release will stream from April 25 onwards.
3. Chhorii 2
Indian horror scene has been quite buzzing in the last few years, and one film that made its mark with word of mouth was the Nushhratt Bharucha starrer Chhorii. The 2021 film explored a blend of folklore and horror elements that connected with the audience.
Following up is Chhorii 2, where Nushhratt will be seen reprising her role and will be joined by Soha Ali Khan, who is expected to play another pivotal character.
This Prime Video release will be streaming from April 11 onwards.
4. Étoile
From the creators of Marvelous Mrs Maisel comes the new Prime Video release in April, Étoile. The show follows the story of two of the most renowned ballet companies in Paris and New York who trade their top stars in the hopes of attracting new audiences in the cutthroat world of dance and performance.
This April new release will be streaming on Amazon Prime Video, from April 24 onwards.
5. 1 Happy Family USA
For the fans of Golden Globes winner actor-comedian Ramy Youssef, April promises to be really good. The much loved creator is back with his new animated show 1 Happy Family USA. The series, all set to stream on Amazon Prime Video from April 17 onwards, follows the story of a Muslim American family as they learn how to code switch during the early 2000s.
6. Karma
If you are into Kdramas but would want to explore a theme apart from romance, this next April new release is for you. Karma, starring Park Hae-soo, Shin Min-a, Lee Hee-joon, Kim Sung-kyun, Lee Kwang-soo, and Gong Seung-yeon, is set to be released on Netflix on April 4 onwards.
The story of this crime thriller series follows 6 people whose lives get entangled in a mess of karma due to a fateful accident, forcing each to face their dark secrets.
7. Chamak - The Conclusion
Another thriller in the list of new releases in April happens to be the SonyLIV series Chamak - The Conclusion. The thriller, featuring Paramvir Cheema, Manoj Pahwa, Mohit Malik, Isha Talwar, Navneet Nishan, and Akasa Singh, is all set to premiereon April 4.
The story follows a young aspirational rapper who flees back to Punjab from Canada and learns about his singer father’s murder.
8. Kaafir
You might have seen Dia Mirza starrer Kaafir as a series. The Zee5 series by Sonam Nair is all set to make a comeback, albeit as a film this time. All set to release on April 4 on the streaming platform, this film has gotten us all excited to see the same much loved story but in a new avatar.
9. Your Friends & Neighbors
Next in the list of new April releases is the Apple TV series Your Friends & Neighbours. The story follows a hedge fund manager played by Jon Hamm who resorts to stealing from his wealthy neighbours after being wrongfully fired.
What he learns about his friends and neighbours that are clearly more sinister than his robberies makes the plot of this new April release, set to go live on April 11.
10. The Handmaid’s Tale Final Season
Set to premiere on April 8, this Hulu series has had all of us in a chokehold. The fans have been eagerly waiting for this release, and from what the trailer reveals, the revolution is here!
The dystopian series based on the novel of the same name by Margaret Atwood is multi-award winner, starting with 8 Primetime Emmys for the first season itself. The sixth and final season drops this month, and we can’t wait to see the world of June and fellow women turn around.
