Indian cricketer Virat Kohli to Chef Manish Mehrotra, a look at Indian celebs who met Queen Elizabeth II.
Violin legend Dr L Subramaniam met Queen Elizabeth II at Buckingham Palace in February, 2017 at the launch of the UK-India Year of Culture, a bilateral year of cultural exchange celebrating the rich shared history between the two countries.
Rajiv Arora and Rajesh Ajmera, founders of Indian jewellery brand, Amrapali, met her majesty at a reception held in February 2017, at Buckingham Palace to mark the start of the UK-India Year of Culture.
The veteran fashion designer who met the Queen at the UK-India Year of Culture reception in 2017, shared a picture with her and wrote, “Bye bye queen.”
Sharing a throwback picture from the UK-India Year of Culture reception, Chef Bhatia wrote, “Her humility, dignity and sheer magnificence will be missed. Thank you ma’am for everything!”
The corporate chef of Indian Accent New Delhi and New York wrote, “END OF AN ERA.. THE WORLD WILL MISS YOU… (sic).”
Popular Indian choreographer who also met the Queen at the same reception, wrote, “It was an honour and privilege for me to have met Her Majesty and shake hands with the longest reigning Monarch of all time! My thoughts and prayers are with the Royal family. May her soul rest in peace!”
Recalling his meeting with Her Majesty, the former Indian cricket captain wrote, “It was an honour meeting Her Majesty the Queen and Prince Harry at Buckingham Palace yesterday.”
Sitar player and composer Anoushka Shankar was also present at the UK-India Year of Culture reception in 2017 and met The Queen. The two spoke of Shankar's musical journey and work.
The Kathak dancer and choreographer, recalls how The Queen was all praises for her dance moves, “I am amazed at the hand gestures (mudras) classical Indian dancers can express stories with! - She had said to me- with her demonstrating a few hand gestures!.”
