INGREDIENTS

  • For Murukku

    • 1 cup rice flour

    • 1 cup urad dal flour

    • 1 cup pottukadalai flour (futane flour)

    • 2 tbsp ghee

    • 1 tsp black sesame seeds

    • oil for deep frying

    • 2 pinches asafoetida

    • salt to taste

PREPARATION

    In a bowl add rice flour, urad dal flour, and pottukadalai flour. Add 1 tbsp sesame seeds, asafoetida, salt and ghee, Mix well.

    Add water and make a smooth soft dough. Keep it covered always.

    Grease the murukku gun with ghee so that the dough does not stick.

    Place dough in the gun and with consistent pressure and a spiral hand motion create the murukku shape onto the plate.

    Gently transfer the squeezed murukkus to hot oil.
  6. 6

    Fry on both sides on medium flame. Remove once crispy and golden brown. Drain in a kitchen towel. Repeat the same process for the rest of the dough.

    Crispy murukku is ready.
