Vegetarian Uttapam By Anshu Abinash

The classic breakfast of Tamil residents consists of idli, dosas or uttappams mostly accompanied by sambar and chutney.

INGREDIENTS

  • 1, 1/2 cup rice
  • 1/2 cup urad
  • 1 teaspoon fenugreek seeds
  • 1 green chili
  • 1 green capsicum
  • 1 red capsicum
  • 1 onion
  • Salt to taste
  • oil for roasting

PREPARATION

    Soak rice and urad, fenugreek seeds in water for 6/7 hours.

    Then drain the water, add water as required in miker bowl and crush, cover and leave for 3/4 hours.

    In a bowl, take finely chopped capsicum n onion, chili, add salt to the prepared batter.

    Take a deep pan, spread out in a circular motion slightly thick then regular masala dosa.
  5. 5

    Now spred the toppings on top of the uttapam evenly.
  6. 6

    After the topping has been added press gently so the toppings are pressed into the batter.

    Add 1 tsp oil around the uttapam, cover it and let it cook for 1-2 minutes in low flame, flip over on the other side once the uttapam turns golden brown.

    finally uttapam is ready to be served with chutney.
