It is a rare variety of fish that needs patience to clean. But the taste of this fish gravy is delicious. If you don't get spiny loaches tried it with sardines or any tiny variety fish. If you cook in a mud pot it will add an extra flavour to the curry.
Grind coconut and water into fine paste. Add cumin seeds , curry leaves few and small onions 75 gms grind to a coarse paste . Clean fish and drain.

In a mud pot add Tamrind pulp, Red chilly powder, coriander powder, Turmeric powder, grounded masala add needed amount water mix well and set on fire.

In a pan add gingelly oil heat well add mustard seeds to splutter add fenugreek seeds and add remaining onions chopped fry well add tomatoes chopped cook till it fry well add curry leaves and pour into the boiling curry and salt to taste and cook in simmer until the raw smell evaporates.

Add fish and add little salt cover and cook for 5mins and serve with hot rice or appam.
