Chawal Ka Fara By Azra Jabeen

This recipe is easy, can be made with basic ingredients available and is a great way to use left over rice.

INGREDIENTS

  • Leftover Rice – 1 Cup
  • Rice Flour – 1 Cup
  • Cumin Seed – ½ Tsp
  • Salt – ½ Tsp
  • Oil – 1 Tbsp
  • Mustard Seed – ½ Tsp
  • Sesame Seed – ½ Tsp
  • Dry Red Chilli – 4-5
  • Garlic – 3-4 Pods
  • Curry Leaves – 8-10
  • Red Chilli Powder – ½ Tsp
  • Water – 1 Cup
  • Coriander Leaves - 2 Tbsp

PREPARATION

    In a bowl add leftover rice, rice flour, cumin seed, salt and mix well.

    Add water little at a time and knead until everything comes together to form a dough.
  3. 3

    Now take a portion of prepared dough and give it cylindrical shape.

    Repeat the process for entire dough.

    Next, heat oil in a pan.
  6. 6

    Add mustard seed, sesame seed, dry red chilli, chopped garlic, curry leaves and red chilli powder.

    Saute for a minute .

    Add water and let it come to boil.

    Carefully drop in the fara, please do not stir at this point as the fara can break.

    Cover and cook for 10-12 minutes on low medium flame.

    Open the lid and saute until moisture completely evaporates.

    Garnish with coriander leaves and enjoy.
