So remember when the internet went ablaze with the news of the new Avengers: Doomsday teaser? Well, turns out, ambitious netizens stitched the recently released audio from a Disney D23 event and sold it as the ‘Avengers: Doomsday trailer’! Keep reading to see how we decode the internet’s latest faux pas with the upcoming Marvel Avengers Doomsday.

What actually happened

According to the most recent report, production on Avengers: Doomsday, the next major MCU movie, is now underway. After the unprecedented success of Avengers: Endgame, this is the first big team-up in a long time. Disney and Marvel Studios gave fans a sneak glimpse at the highly anticipated picture at the Destination D23 event, presenting a teaser and behind-the-scenes video, even though the film isn't set for release until December next year.

The Russo brothers, Joe and Anthony, who are now in London shooting Avengers: Doomsday, spoke to the audience. "Hello D23 members, this is Joe and Anthony Russo," they said in a video greeting they released. "Right now, we are in London shooting Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Doomsday. This movie is, to say the least, a big one for us. It is bigger than anything we have ever done. We are bringing together so many of your favourite heroes to face one of the greatest threats to the MCU." Well, that’s it. No teaser was released; however, fans were excited about a leaked audio from the Disney D23 events that many believed to be authentic.

What was the leaked audio about?

Exclusive to D23 goers only, the teaser built anticipation by fusing together memorable quotes from Marvel's extensive canon. "We could pull together the greatest team ever," Thor said in Love and Thunder, and then Captain America Sam Wilson's voice from Brave New World said, "If we can't see the good in each other, we've already lost the fight." And it wasn't all. "Now is our time to strike," Shuri, the new Black Panther, vowed, while Ant-Man comforted supporters with his Quantumania line: "Will I be there when the Avengers need me?"  With the words "We stick together from now on," Yelena Belova, who is now a member of the Avengers, added, and Joaquin Torres' Falcon repeated them: "That pressure, that responsibility? I want that too." With the words, "This has the makings of a team that can bring light from the darkness," even Red Guardian provided his feedback. Loki reflected, his usual intricate self.  “Razing things to the ground is easy. Trying to fix what’s broken is hard.”

The inclusion of Marvel's larger world, however, was the most unexpected thing. Cyclops said, "If anything happens, I'll take care of them," while Professor X warned, "There are forces in this world... who believe that a war is coming." The voices from the X-Men movie were heard again. Reed Richards, played by Pedro Pascal, of the Fantastic Four, said, "Today we are your defenders" as the ensemble stepped into the frame. Our duty is to safeguard you. At the terrifying conclusion of the trailer, Shuri led the Wakandan war cry, "Yibambe!"

In a message from the set, Paul Rudd added, "We're surrounded by jaw-dropping sets and some truly incredible talent," which only served to heighten the anticipation. Without your help, we would not have been able to bring this tale to the big screen. It means the world to us. With familiar faces returning, new Avengers joining the fray, and the X-Men and Fantastic Four finally making an appearance, Avengers: Doomsday is looking like Marvel's most daring crossover yet. The official countdown has started, but fans will have to wait until December 2026 to witness the big screen adaptation of everything.

Our two cents

The "Avengers: Doomsday teaser" was just a great fan edit that cleverly put together dialogue from old Marvel movies and the exclusive Disney D23 audio. It may have fooled millions of people online, but the truth is that Marvel has only shared a look behind the scenes and a heartfelt message from the Russo brothers, who are currently in London filming the movie. There hasn't been an official teaser yet.

This event really shows how excited people are for Avengers: Doomsday. Fans can't wait to see what happens next in the MCU after Endgame, especially since the Thunderbolts, Fantastic Four, X-Men, and Earth's Mightiest Heroes are all going to be in it. The leaked "teaser" was fake, but the excitement it caused shows how much people want Marvel's biggest crossover yet. Fans will have to make do with rumours, leaks, and fan edits until Marvel Studios officially releases the first look. But one thing is for sure: the wait will be worth it when the real Avengers: Doomsday teaser finally comes out.

And before you hit the movies in December 2026, has the Marvel fan in you watched all the movies in order? Time to catch up in the link given below!
