Rejoice! Rajinikanth fans. The south star will be back on the big screen, doing a pivotal role with 'Lal Salaam'. Directed by his elder daughter, Aishwarya Rajinikanth, the film also stars Vishnu Vishal, Vikranth and is all set to create thunder on screens on February 9. The film was earlier, scheduled to release on Pongal but now has got delayed. The makers, earlier, yesterday dropped the film's trailer shedding light into important subjects.
What can you expect from 'Lal Salaam' trailer?
The Aishwarya Rajinikanth directorial showcases the typical landscape of an India-Pakistan match and the discomfort between the two communities piling with religious conflict. Thalaivaa aka Rajinikanth makes a cameo appearance in the form of Moideen Bhai, whose nature is to sort conflicts, and is known to be a respectable man. He is known to be the peacemaker between the two different communities. He makes his voice heard with his iconic dialogue in the trailer, "I trust in the justice system. I just don’t trust a few black sheep in the system", where he clearly emphasises against young minds being poisoned with conversations on communal violence.
The trailer looks choppy and as you delve further into it, you try getting a faint idea about the movie. Vishnu Vishal essays the protagonist, a Muslim guy who has had a traumatic past. An alcoholic by the day and a troublemaker, a pujari sees positivity in his behaviour. He predicts that the rabble-rouser would bring fame to his village. Cricket is his only way towards redemption but sadly he does not get a fair play. The subject of the movie is around religious harmony, which has been a subject explored by many filmmakers, but the trailer fails to create the sitting-on-the-edge moment.
The movie showcases how a cricket match is affected by communal hatred. AR Rahman's music gives light at the end of the tunnel, in the trailer. Others in the cast include, Senthil, Jeevitha, Thambi Ramaiah, Ananthika Sanilkumar, Vivek Prasanna and Thangadurai. It is interesting to note that Aishwarya Rajinikanth's first movie titled ‘3’, which had her former husband Dhanush, was a hit when it released back in 2012. ‘Lal Salaam’ will be her first big screen release after a period. Let's see if she has a successful comeback post a hiatus of eight years.
