Best books to read on a rainy day

The Lake

by Natasha Preston

If you're stuck and the rain is persistent, The Lake is a reliable option to spend the drizzling afternoon! The stories written by Natasha Preston aren't the most complex or noteworthy, but they are enjoyable and offer a brief reprieve from the real world. Reading them is like going back in time to my Wattpad days. The Lake is a tragicomedy set at a summer camp that deals with secrets, remorse, and turmoil. For a quick read on a rainy day, this YA thriller is perfect since it is both scary and short. This is one of the best books to read on a rainy day!

Twilight Saga

 by Stephenie Meyer

This was inevitable, so let's just do it. The Twilight Saga, a beloved classic set in gloomy Forks, Washington, begs to be read when the weather is wet. We think Twilight or New Moon might be more suited to this season; however, we appreciate all of the books in the series. Unlike the terrible New Moon, the classic love romance Twilight takes place in a beautiful setting. Choose the book that resonates with your emotions, and you'll emerge as a Twihard! Now this is a classic rainy day read!

All These Bodies

By Kendare Blake

A summer rife with bloodshed. Numerous enquiries have been made, some leading to unsettling conclusions in the summer of 1958. A horrific serial murderer is terrorising the Midwest, vanishing behind a trail of lifeless victims. As a young journalist whose father is the sheriff of his hometown, Michael Jensen never dreamed that the Bloodless Murders would show up in his own backyard. That was not the case until the night of the Carlson house murders. At the scene, investigators discovered Marie Catherine Hale, a fifteen-year-old girl, covered in blood. So far, authorities have only taken her into custody. This is one of those engaging books to read on a rainy day! Marie chooses Michael as the only person to whom she would confess, pulling him into the inquiry despite his initial refusal to be involved. Michael must now ascertain the truth as Marie relates her version of events to answer the question, "What happened the night that the Carlsons were killed?" How could a single lady get herself entangled with so many dead bodies?

Jane Eyre

By Charlotte Bronte

Jane has astute perceptions of her environment and is a clever, perceptive protagonist. In an effort to get out of her tiny town and her tough upbringing, she takes a job as a governess; it is there that she meets the irritable, optimistic Mr. Rochester. In this gothic love story, elements of Jane Austen and Wuthering Heights come together to create a slow-paced, eerie tale with ghostly undertones. This is a classic rainy day read!

All The Light We Cannot See

by Anthony Doerr

This is the story of two young heroes, one German and one French, whose paths intersect as the Second World War engulfs their respective worlds in devastation. What makes this novel special are the specks of enchantment and the gleaming optimism that it contains. You'll fly through it since the chapters become shorter as you go along, and it's heartwarming and lovely. This is one of the best books to read on a rainy day!

Today Tonight Tomorrow

by Rachel Lynn Solomon

If you're like us, the mere mention of rain triggers a plethora of childhood memories. They take me back to my childhood summers spent reading with my siblings. If you're seeking that nostalgic vibe, Today Tonight Tomorrow is a fantastic option. As is typical in high school, Rowan and Neil, the protagonists, transition from being competitors to lovers, their innocent yet complex relationship balancing sweetness and saltiness. His writing is eerily similar to Wattpad, and reading it can transport you to your glorious reading years, before you had a job or went to college.

Clown in a Cornfield

by Adam Cesare

This first horror novel's throwback slasher vibes are too good to pass up! We are completely obsessed with Frendo the Clown, the most terrifying monster imaginable. To start over, Quinn Maybrook and her father have relocated to sleepy little Kettle Springs. Kettle Springs has been in shambles ever since the Baypen Corn Syrup Factory closed its doors, but nobody there knows this. Kids just want to have a good time, film silly videos, and get out of Kettle Springs as soon as possible, while adults are frantic to restore the town's glory. Tradition and modernity, the past and the present, are at odds at Kettle Springs. This battle appears to have the potential to completely destroy the town. Until the terrifying clown with a pork-pie hat known as Frendo, the mascot of Baypen, goes insane and thinks that killing out the current crop of youngsters is the only way for Kettle Springs to recover. Now this is some engaging rainy day reading!
