Messy or sleek; long waves or a short bob, there's so much to experiment with this party season and there are options for all hair lengths and types. The key is to embrace your natural hair texture and make the most out of products and heat styling for your hair type.
A good hairdo can make or break your look, so we have four different tried-and-tested celebrity hair inspirations, and expert stylists to decode the looks created by them, so you are red-carpet-ready, regardless of your plans being pencilled in for a house party.
1. Textured, voluminous pony by celebrity hair and makeup artist, Bhavya Arora
- Apply heat protection and mousse to 30% damp hair.
- Blow-dry hair well. Section the hair into six to seven sections.
- Spray very little constructor. Take thin sections of hair and tong them inwards and outwards using a conical barrel.
- When you reach the crown, tong the hair away from the face in one direction. Spray a strong-hold hairspray once done.
- Take a bungee and secure the hair in a ponytail.
- Pull out tiny wisps of hair around the face for a soft look.
- You can add some hair accessories to elevate the look
2. Sleek low bun By Bhavya Arora
- Apply heat protection to 50% damp hair.
- Apply a smoothening or frizz control cream to hair depending upon your hair texture.
- Blow-dry the hair well from roots into a poker straight texture.
- Section the hair and use a hair straightener to get the hair completely ironed.
- Use hairspray for sleek hair and secure the hair into a low ponytail with a center partition using a comb.
- Take another rubber band and fold the ponytail halfway so that the ends are out of the band and secure the hair in a low Japanese-style bun.
- Make sure the ends of the hair are poker straight and are sitting on the nape of the neck.
- Spray the hair again and clean the front to achieve a sleek look using a mascara wand or a thin comb
- Apply some shine cream or a shine spray to achieve the final look.
3. Soft curls by celebrity hair and makeup artist, Priyanka Borkar
- Blow-dry your hair if you have slightly wavy curly hair, to make them look smooth on top. Borkar has used the Dyson Supersonic medium brush until the hair is smooth.
- Apply a little bit of mousse on the ends to create a wave.
- Take sections from the bottom (Borkar has used a 28 mm tong from Ikonic to create the waves). Create vertical sections, two and a half inches broad and long. Hold the tong vertically, curl around, and follow the same until the top. Always tong away from the face. Let it sit and cool down.
- Take a flat brush or a paddle brush and brush out the whole hair. Don’t let the curls remain as is, smoothen hair out, and accessories with clips on the side.
4. Flat iron curls on short hair by Priyanka Borkar
- Prep hair with a heat protectant spray, Borkar has used L’oreal constructor. You can also use a curling cream or a serum if your hair doesn’t open up.
- Take one-inch longer sections, and turn your hair as you go around the hair shaft for a straighter curl using a flat iron. To create a textured and messy look, alternate your wave, and around your face, always curl it away. You can use Aveda’s Texture Tonic for extra texture.
- Let it cool down for five minutes. Use your fingers to lightly tousle and dust with Schwarzkopf Professional OSiS+ Dust It - Mattifying Powder.
