Micro-mance

A good news for all the old school romantics at heart, the joy of the cutest rom coms and meet cutes are on their way to make a comeback in 2025. With over half the percentage of women being interviewed in the survey by Bumble claiming to be romantics, who are all in to experience the perfect romance, the concept of micro-mance has made its way through. Micro-mance meaning is used to describe expressing one’s feelings through small gestures, but which in turn have a large impact. Micro-mance simply means to convey one’s love with small and basic gestures, such as creating playlists, sending memes, grabbing coffee together or sharing inside jokes.

Future-proofing

Uncertainties have become a constant struggle for the new generation. With topics surrounding finances, job security, housing and climate change being major areas of concern for the Millennials and Gen Zs, such factors are also playing a major role while looking for a partner. With increasing concern related to the uncertainty of the future, women in India are looking for a partner who is able to offer them stability, are reliable, emotionally consistent, while also being clear about their own goals in life, which is precisely the future-proofing meaning. With future-proofing coming forth as a major dating trend this coming year, singles can expect such conversations to be a major aspect while looking for a partner.

DWM (Date with me)

With social media being an integral part of the lives of the Millennials and Gen Zs, whether it's the dating GRWM videos, post date recaps, dating wraps, relationship tests and live streamed breakups, couples nowadays are way more transparent and authentic about embracing their dating lives through social media. Celebrating both the highs and the lows of relationships, individuals are now being able to discuss their experiences openly and in turn inspiring others for healthier relationship goals. In such a way, social media has now come up to become an important tool that supports dating culture and helps people to understand the rights and wrongs associated with the same.

On the same (fan) page

Social media has given rise to a number of micro-communities, whether they are fandoms, book clubs, culinary classes, or participating in social activities together. Finding like-minded people and having shared interests through such micro-communities have helped people connect better, and makes for the perfect way to identify partners, start conversations, and build compatibility.

Male-casting

2024 has witnessed the typical male archetypes on social media, with men in finance, 6 feet tall, return of the Hulk and so on. While these stereotypes are definitely problematic, it is predicted that the traditional stereotype surrounding looks is about to be more pronounced in 2025. The survey conducted by Bumble agreed that these conversations are likely to continue in the coming year and significantly impact the dating culture.

The guys that get it

There seems to be a new friend filter ascending when it comes to dating culture in 2025, and that is the rise of the guy best friend. Nearly a third of the single women surveyed have said that they are more open with their male best friends about their dating lives than they used to be, and women are now even asking their male best friends to filter out their potential dates. Moreover, the majority of the women surveyed have also spoken about how they often rely on their male best friends to offer honest insights into men’s dating behaviour.

In conclusion, the overall data gathered by Bumble largely indicates that stability, shared interests, transparency and authenticity in terms of conversations are becoming big priorities for singles.
