Unniyapam is a small round snack. It is a popular snack in kerala with crisp exterior and a spongy interior. We peoples in kerala dont have very rich tradition of sweets and snacks but this item is our main snack item.😋

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 cup raw rice
  • 2 small banana(chop)
  • ¾ tbsp Cardamom powder
  • 1 or 1¼ cup jaggery
  • 2 small Banana
  • Mixture of ghee and oil
  • 2 tbsp coconut(chopped and fried in ghee)
  • ¼ tbsp Baking soda
  • Appe pan

PREPARATION

    Soak the rice for 3-4 hrs. Just add 1/2 tbsp water ,not more than that.

    Now add jaggery powder and grind it.
  3. 3

    Add banana and grind to fine batter of medium consistency.The batter should not be very thin. Transfer to a bowl.

    Add cardamom pwder+coconut bits and give a nice mix.

    Add baking soda and give a nice mix .

    Heat appe pan and add 1tbsp of ghee to each partition.

    Pour the batter to fill each partition. The pan has to be hot.

    Cover and cock for 1or2 min on medium flame.
  9. 9

    Check if it browns from down then flip and cook.

    After flipping the dish cook for 1-2 min in medium flame until golden brown.

    Now add some sugar on the top.

    Unniyapmas are ready to serve.
