So, what is the concept?
In an effort to win over the judges, fourteen well-known fashion brands will showcase their designs and present their business plans on this reality show. The fashion investment pool is an impressive INR 30 crore, and they will all be competing for a share of it. It will be heavily influenced by the buzzers of the six judges. In order to take home the huge cash prize, the fashion labels will need to negotiate and strike a deal with the judges. Experts will question the aspiring fashion entrepreneurs about their collection and business, as shown in the trailer.
Who are the judges?
Karan Johar, Akshay Kumar, Manish Malhotra, and Malaika Arora are all involved with the show as judges, coaches, and investors. This event is the first of its kind in India, uniting influential figures from the entertainment and business sectors to promote fashion entrepreneurship. Notable attendees of the event include Naveen Jindal, Dhruv Sharma, Ravi Jaipuria, Darpan Sanghvi, Gaurav Dalmia, Vagish Pathak, and Vinod Dugar. Fifteen hand-picked fashion company owners will compete for $100,000 in seed money and receive invaluable mentoring on the show “Pitch to Get Rich.” Stars such as Saif Ali Khan, Sara Ali Khan, Shibani Dandekar Akhtar, Ananya Panday, and others make cameos in the trailer, which brings glitz to the otherwise gritty startup challenges.
So, do we see a hint of inspiration?
Well, we do hint at a sense of inspiration from Project Runway! An American reality show called Project Runway debuted on Bravo on December 1, 2004. Fashion design is the main emphasis of the series. Heidi Klum hosted the show from 2004 to 2017, and Eli Holzman was its creator. Bravo aired the first five seasons, followed by eleven more on Lifetime, and more than thirty other countries have adapted the show.
With time, materials, and a theme as constraints, the contenders race to design the most fashionable garments. A panel evaluates their creations, and usually one or more designers are sent off the show every week. Every season, more and more contestants are evicted until only a handful are left. All of these contenders work tirelessly to have their New York Fashion Week designs ready and the judging takes place following the fashion displays.
From an initial pool of twelve or more fashion designers, Project Runway gradually narrows the field to eight or ten before the final challenge. As part of each episode's non-finale challenge, the designers are tasked with creating new garments to be showcased at a fashion show. All the while staying true to their own unique style, the designers must overcome a wide variety of inventive hurdles. Some examples of such challenges include making an item of clothing out of non-traditional materials like: recycled materials, items found in an apartment, edible food, plants, flowers, the designer's own clothing, materials found in a party store, a high-profile client, a corporate fashion line, or a specific theme.
