In a social media post on Thursday, July 14, 2022, former IPL Chairman, Lalit Modi broke the internet by declaring that he’s dating former Miss Universe and actor Sushmita Sen.
Modi shared a series of images of him and Sen on Twitter, Instagram and LinkedIn. In the post, he referred to Sushmita Sen as his 'better half'. Later he edited the caption to clarify that they aren't married and just dating.
The only pictures Sen shared on Instagram were with her daughters from her Sardinia and Maldives vacation. The announcement suggests Modi had also accompanied the former Miss Universe.
Apart from sharing intimate and candid images, Modi even changed his Instagram bio: “finally starting a new life with my partner in crime. My love @sushmitasen47”
It is speculated that Modi and Sen’s relationship goes back to 2013. An old tweet of Modi from 2013 has resurfaced and gone viral where he is asking Sushmita to reply to his SMS. Twitter users have been sharing screenshots of the tweet saying, “It all started from here.”
Although the Sen has not commented or engaged with Modi's proclamation of love, her brother Rajeev Sen, in an interaction with India Today, said, "I am pleasantly surprised too. I will speak to my sister about this." Meanwhile, actor Ranveer Singh had also dropped hearts on Modi’s Instagram post.
This personal life update shared by Lalit Modi has baffled many and led to it becoming fodder for memes. The Lalit Modi-Sushmita Sen love story is currently a trending subject online.
Lalit Modi was married to Minal Modi, who passed away four years ago after battling cancer. While Sushmita Sen parted ways from her long boyfriend, Rohman Shawl, last year.
