The social media posts from their frequent vacations dropped enough hints about their brewing romance. The couple made their first public appearance during the premiere of ‘Tadap’, the movie which marked Athiya's brother Ahan Shetty's Bollywood debut.
After dating for almost three years, the cricketer made his relationship with Athiya official on her 29th birthday in 2021. Sharing a picture with Athiya, he wrote, “Happy birthday my (red heart) @athiyashetty.”
It’s been said that Athiya's friend Akansha Ranjan Kapoor played cupid for them. Speculations about the two being together began when they started wishing each other on birthdays on social media.
Athiya also accompanied Rahul for his test series in England and shared a series of photos from their outings that were enough to add fuel to the speculations. The actor’s father Suniel Shetty was instrumental in keeping his daughter’s personal life under wraps and always remained tight-lipped about it.
The cricketer shares a great bond with Suniel Shetty and Ahan Shetty. In one of his interviews, he revealed how Suniel schools him on maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
The duo have also featured in various campaigns and we must say, they look good together. According to reports, their wedding preparations have already begun and it will be a South Indian-style winter shaadi.
