The first episode of ‘Koffee With Karan Season 7’ was all about Alia Bhatt getting candid about her wedding and relationship with husband Ranbir Kapoor. From the dreamy proposal to adapting to the Kapoor family after marriage, here’s all that she shared.
Did you know that Ranbir Kapoor actually came to Alia Bhatt's debut film ‘Student Of The Year’ set and joked to Karan Johar, “Should I marry her?" Needless to say, they were destined to be together!
Talking about his proposal at their favourite destination, Masai Mara, Alia said, “In terms of planning, he totally blew my mind, we were not even talking about it. After the pandemic, we decided to just go with the feeling. He just carried the ring and did it in the middle of the jungle. He had planted the guide to take our pics. He knows how much pics mean to me. It was too special.”
It all started during a Tel Aviv flight for a ‘Brahmastra’ workshop, when the two were seated together. Alia said, “When I was single after a very long time, everyone around me, my sis and friends said 'you and Ranbir are going to be together'. We talked about it on our flight and exchanged notes. The vibe started there only and the rest is history.”
Alia wanted to get married in their house and she did exactly that. Recalling all the beautiful moments, she said, “The day of marriage was extremely simple. I wanted it no other way. Just before we went, I went down to get ready. Ranbir and I had lunch together and we shook hands and said 'Bye bye boyfriend and girlfriend' because we longer be boyfriend and girlfriend.”
The Kapoor family was a whole new experience for Alia. She said, “Enter the Kapoor family, where everyone does everything together. You eat together, do aarti together, everything is done together. It was cute. I have been through so many moments of culture and family because of the Kapoor family that it has given me a totally new layer in my life."
Flaunting her diamond ring and the secret engraving on it, she said, “My diamond ring has been engraved with our relationship philosophy which is very close to my heart. Mrs Hipster. Each alphabet (sic) stands for something, but that I won’t share what it is.”
Alia knows how to stay friends with her partner’s ex, “I am very good friends with his exes. I love them both.”
